am not a big fan of Alien 3 and 4 (especially 4 is an abomination in my opinion) - regarding the question, I do not like neither the dog nor cow scene.
It is a long time since I watched Alien 3, but I remember I did not like the overdone social drama aspect of it, the setting and the sacrifice of Hicks and Newt (so early). I get that they probably thought this might be a refreshing approach but it did not work for me.
The introduction of the adaptable xenomorph regarding the host it is growing in might be interesting, however it took away the bizarre and mysterious essence of the xenomorph for me and made it too animalistic the way it was done.
Making the xenomorphs some kind of a deadly plague of bigger space rats/ants is just something I despise and refuse as well as making it just some sort or shape of a "bioweapon" originating from black goo (Prometheus) to wipe sapient life from planets that the engineers cultivated to collect dna and probably to create bioshperes (maybe humans and other sapient lifeforms on other planets they cultivated are just a mistake and a danger to them. Like some sort of god´s creation kills the god to become immortal theme). Maybe they can save it for me if there is a xenomorph protoform - the engineers are its servants/cultists and the black goo is an extract from it with this special purpose (but this is just a quick idea so do not blame me ^^ / the engineers look like a sapient biomechanoid construction too and have similarities to the xenomorphs and humans).
As for me, I completely agree with you. I found the fourth installment to be miserable in both directing and narrative. By far the most intriguing aspect of Alien³ was, in my humble opinion, H.R. Giger's involvement. I'm a major enthusiast of his Biomechanical art style. If you haven't done so already, feel free to watch the following short documentary on his effort into designing the xenomorph of the third film:

Once more, thank you for taking the time to read and respond to my thread. Much appreciated!
Wishing you a smooth and relaxing weekend,
Joseph
I did not enjoy Alien 3 myself personnaly set on a prison world in a lead factory no weapons perv prisoners not my cup of tea saying that I did enjoy Alien Ressurection set in a military lab off world including the space smuggling pirates which I thought had a better story line.
My fav Alien outburst has to be the original Alien where john hurt plays the charctor who while munching some well needed food before going back to suspended animation get's it bad and note the way Ash medical officer watches him. Classic

Gotta respect the classics. The scene you are referring to is not only the most iconic moment of the Alien quadrilogy but also the epitomy of how a simple scene can turn into a masterpiece of the ages if directed properly!
Thank you for taking the time to read my thread and respond!

Yes, this has always been a problem with the ox impregnation; as far as I know, they never designed the alien to behave like an ox.
I do like the sight of the chestburster sprinting out of the room.
Thanks for clarifing that for me.
Like I mentiond in the version i watched you see a bit of the OX scene splash of the blood and the Alien, which was a Dog Alien scene in the version I watched.
Never to old to learn something new Cheers
Also, I know Alien 3 gets a lot of hate, but I like it. I think it's even better than Alien 2 (Aliens) because it brings back the survival aspect, where they have no guns and can't kill the alien. There's a special version of Alien 3 which is really hard to find, it's about 30 minutes longer than the normal version, and it is MUCH better.
The only way I know how to get this version, however, is not strictly legal...
I'm on the hunt for this version to see if it changes my mind about Aliens 3 if that's the case

I Agree Nur
After watching Alien 3 Assembly cut it was different, I prefered the Dog outburst but it did not change my original feelings about the film but thats just my personnal view.
i didn't get that vibe from prometheus, it was more like they were using the black goo to kill.. whoever/whatever, But the fact that someone got impregnated by someone that was infected and birthed a monster, which then infected the engineer with.. whatever, i dont think there original plan would have led to the creation of the "deacon" or whatever the hell people are calling it.
as you can see i dont hold that film in high regard.
as for the topic, i personally preferred the Dog scene. but 3 wasn't so great overall, but in comparison to 4... its still decent.
The new Ghostbusters, the new Terminator, and so on and so on. They're always terrible. There's a good chance that it'll be so terrible it'll make Alien 3 seem good lol.
