Ray Tracing, please. Do it for the money.
This game just seems like the absolute perfect opportunity to do it. It did poorly in sales and the tech is still fresh enough to get featured in DigitalFoundry and such. Since it's all about the money:

The Aliens brand is valuable and the tech is, as I said new: You might even sell it as an internal experiment in the tech, do a level's worth and claim you're doing it to see "if it substantially adds to the Aliens franchise" or what ever reason you want to provide. Heck, AMD might even be interested in tossing some money your way to do it.

If it picks up, do the whole thing. If not, just say it was never intended to be a "true remaster" but rather an experiment. The added benefit of possibly learning how much pent up demand there is for a proper Aliens game and if this isn't Sega's scene but the demand is there:

You can always do AvP3, if not that then just straight up do Doom (2016) but with Aliens. I don't care, I prefer horror elements, but honestly I just want to shoot Aliens.

eh, this game is no longer supported so it's not gonna happen

Agree, this game would benefit with an enhanced version for raytracing - we gotta let SEGA know that we want it.

With Quake RT nVidia basically 'invented' the RT remake. It will come, sooner or later. Whether or not they beat the curve is a different discussion. At this point they can almost just slap Marty McFly path tracer on this thing and call it a day:

lol no

quake rtx was an nvidia sponsored tech demo, they don't care about this game

This can also be done with the new GeForce Experience Freestyle additions injecting ray-tracing to hundreds of games thanks to the ray tracing filter from Marty McFly.

That reshade faux-RTX is a good for proof of concept screenshots for what a game could look like with RTX on but is terrible for actual gameplay. Even in that video I see lots of strange lighting artifacts when the player/objects are in motion. Reshade can't calculate the precise 3D space because it only relies on what your viewport sees. You can see how it breaks frequently when the camera moves around. Proper RTX would be something actually coded into the lighting engine like those tech demos.

Those lighting artifacts are mostly a denoiser/ray count issue, you can see the pixel swimming effect to a reduced degree in all RT games. It does do it's ray tracing in screen space. Thing is, the game is a lot of closed spaces and cramped rooms so it doesn't really suffer too much from lighting not being carried from off screen.

Hence, almost. :lunar2019piginablanket:

Not saying I told you so, but.. told you so.

Not later, but sooner - with or without Sega.

Which, incidentally is why I made the topic of this thread, requesting them to do it for the money - which they do care about. So we'll see.. my money's on an RT remake flood in roughly 1 or 2 years at the latest.

1. They're not gonna make another penny off this game - any more work done on it would just be money flushed down the toilet. There's a small hardcore fanbase for this game, such as myself, who would buy another DLC for it, but there's very few of those and it wouldn't even be enough to recoup the cost of the work.

2. The Alien brand isn't valuable anymore. It has been abused and run into the ground, just like Terminator and Predator. They USED to be valuable, now they're not.

they won't make any money from it

you are severely overestimating the amount of people who care about rt

On the contrary.. I think you are severely underestimating the interest in RT. Remember when you were a kid in school, around 8-10? Remember how you always had to hate whatever it was that you didn't have, but someone else did, ie: you had a playstation, but someone had an x-box, so obviously x-box is trash and everything on it is trash.

That is what you're seeing everywhere they dismiss RT as "useless gimmick." FOMO is a terrible thing and it's causing hate towards RT because you can't have it. You want it, but won't admit it, so it's trash. nVidia knows this, every marketing person on this planet knows this.

"There is a toggle I can't turn on, but that's okay I didn't want to turn it on anyway. and other excuses that help you sleep at night. :lunar2019piginablanket:

There is a reason nVidia has a near monopoly, and it's because they have you all by the balls. My bet is made and in a years time, I will necro this thread to either admit I was wrong, or gloat. I have such a firm belief in this, I'm going to buy more nVidia shares.

I literally have my money where my mouth is, how sure are you?

My sweet summer child.. if you had any clue what trash games the brand has carried over the decades, bad games don't kill the brand. They kill interest in the publishers Alien's games.

Which again is why I'd do it, I mean look at No man's sky, cyberpunk.. people love when dev's fix their broken games and make them better. It creates brand loyalty and value. Sega doesn't have much good faith on the consumer end. Some of that is on offer for the cheap too with this.

They still make terminator movies, they still make money. The predator just had a cinema release in the form of Prey. Just because YOU think they have no value, doesn't mean they DON'T. Most consumers are friggin clueless and a ton of us will go just for nostalgia, even if they're crap.

No point for the developers to add ray tracing. The lighting effects in this game are already some of the best you`ll ever see. Ray Tracing works for games that are old or have bad lighting or reflections.

Also, the developers are done and disbanded from what I understand. No money would be made.
