With Quake RT nVidia basically 'invented' the RT remake. It will come, sooner or later. Whether or not they beat the curve is a different discussion. At this point they can almost just slap Marty McFly path tracer on this thing and call it a day:

quake rtx was an nvidia sponsored tech demo, they don't care about this game
Those lighting artifacts are mostly a denoiser/ray count issue, you can see the pixel swimming effect to a reduced degree in all RT games. It does do it's ray tracing in screen space. Thing is, the game is a lot of closed spaces and cramped rooms so it doesn't really suffer too much from lighting not being carried from off screen.
Hence, almost.

Not saying I told you so, but.. told you so.
Not later, but sooner - with or without Sega.
Which, incidentally is why I made the topic of this thread, requesting them to do it for the money - which they do care about. So we'll see.. my money's on an RT remake flood in roughly 1 or 2 years at the latest.
2. The Alien brand isn't valuable anymore. It has been abused and run into the ground, just like Terminator and Predator. They USED to be valuable, now they're not.
you are severely overestimating the amount of people who care about rt
On the contrary.. I think you are severely underestimating the interest in RT. Remember when you were a kid in school, around 8-10? Remember how you always had to hate whatever it was that you didn't have, but someone else did, ie: you had a playstation, but someone had an x-box, so obviously x-box is trash and everything on it is trash.
That is what you're seeing everywhere they dismiss RT as "useless gimmick." FOMO is a terrible thing and it's causing hate towards RT because you can't have it. You want it, but won't admit it, so it's trash. nVidia knows this, every marketing person on this planet knows this.
"There is a toggle I can't turn on, but that's okay I didn't want to turn it on anyway. and other excuses that help you sleep at night.
There is a reason nVidia has a near monopoly, and it's because they have you all by the balls. My bet is made and in a years time, I will necro this thread to either admit I was wrong, or gloat. I have such a firm belief in this, I'm going to buy more nVidia shares.
I literally have my money where my mouth is, how sure are you?
My sweet summer child.. if you had any clue what trash games the brand has carried over the decades, bad games don't kill the brand. They kill interest in the publishers Alien's games.
Which again is why I'd do it, I mean look at No man's sky, cyberpunk.. people love when dev's fix their broken games and make them better. It creates brand loyalty and value. Sega doesn't have much good faith on the consumer end. Some of that is on offer for the cheap too with this.
They still make terminator movies, they still make money. The predator just had a cinema release in the form of Prey. Just because YOU think they have no value, doesn't mean they DON'T. Most consumers are friggin clueless and a ton of us will go just for nostalgia, even if they're crap.
Also, the developers are done and disbanded from what I understand. No money would be made.
