The bug isn't a bug. It's really the game lagging. You may be biting way too much off for your computer and it's causing your game to "lag" in some of it's functions. Another option is. That this game legally can not be modded (I don't care what people say or argue for being able to do it) and because they never intended this game to be modded. Mods can screw with the game code in ways that break it. Is your game modded? This might be why you're having that issue. IF none of the above, it maybe be your anti virus in the back ground or your PC doing some sort of update for whatever OP or whatever. It could be you processor is slow, or slowing down, or you have too much going on for your computer to handle at one time. You could go to the steam file and verify the files of the game. And if that's all good maybe a new install? if nothing works... its sadly your hardware and not the game (I know I know people never say that but yes hardware can be the fault even though most don't like to admit it).
Ohhh, this is a possibility. My pc is great performance-wise, BUT I do have the Unpredictable Alien mod installed (which doesn't function in the DLCs anyway). I could try restoring the game file(s) back to the original and see if that corrects the problem. Thanks for the info!
No problem.
So after verifying (and replacing) all of the previously modded game files via steam re-download + confirmation, the problem still occurred. I got all the way to the 2nd last task, which was finding the keycard in the Bacchus Apartments area (taking it from the dead guy under the floor, and then being forced to crawl a long way through the death vents with two aliens looking for me).
After I climbed into the long section of vents on the way back, which is the most dangerous part, I could no longer draw any weapon or device. It was barely possible to change the item in the bottom left of the screen, but no matter what I tried, I could not visibly draw and/or aim anything other than the maintenance jack.
Keyboard numbers 1-5 above WASD (weapon selection binds) did nothing. Space bar for motion detector did nothing. Q worked for bringing up the radial item selection interface, but the usual mouse selection actions after that did NOT equip any selected item.
I managed to sprint back to the safe zone, somehow not getting killed by the aliens, and still, none of the important equip functions are working there.
This is the third time it has happened to me today *right after climbing into that length of vents on the way back*. One of the three times was during the rescue hostage task, a couple tasks earlier, and I was forced to wrench the heavy security to death to get through.
I doubt this has anything to do with my PC hardware. I can run Cyberpunk 2077 smoothly on high settings just fine, and have never encountered anything like this in the normal Alien Isolation campaign, or even in Lost Contact DLC. I think it's a bug, or a corruption in the Safe Haven DLC files.
I am going to reinstall the Safe Haven DLC.
You should uninstall the modded files (all of them), then reverify the integrity of the files of the base game without any mods. Afterwards dont install the mods again. See if the problem still happens.
ALso Cyberpunk 2077 is a different developer and its different coding. Coding is read my computer software that is developed to be able to work with a certain range of computer parts. Everyone doubts its their computer parts. Can you explain why a person could play say the witcher 3 on their computer but not alien isolation with a supped up recent model computer (all new parts most advanced as well) yet you having a less supped up computer can play both those games? It's the hardward.
The same issue is with the issues with cyberpunk 2077. why can some computer player it with hardly any problems yet most other computers have issues playing (not counting consoles)? Because some of the issue is that the game isn't programmed to be able to run on that hardware. They didn't test like they should have. the other part would be the coding is broken and not programmed correctly.
That is exactly what I did. I have not re-added any mods. It's pure vanilla.
Yup, I am aware of how applications are dependent on, and run by the software contained in hardware (drivers, shaders etc). And operating systems as well. Technically almost any software can be at fault. Simply having a web browser open in the background can have undesirable effects on another application being run at the same time.
However, because x game function is normally successful everywhere else in the game under the same circumstances, except for a single, specific point, this tells me that the bug (an error, flaw or fault in a computer program or system that causes it to produce an incorrect or unexpected result) *likely* originates from a flaw in the Alien Isolation programming. Perhaps they stacked too much script to be executed at this point, and/or it is poorly optimised. Perhaps the weapon/item systems are generally not programmed effectively (there are numerous confirmed bugs involving them). Or perhaps there is data corruption in the script.
My hardware and software are quite common:
Windows 10
ROG Strix B550-F Gaming Wifi
AMD Ryzen 5 3600
Radeon RX 580
Corsair Vengeance Pro SL 32GB DDR4 3200
A few other users have reported the same issue years ago, and mention that it occurs in the DLC. However they did not list their hardware.
Anyway, it looks as though there is no way to escape/correct the bug using in-game actions aside from saving/loading. But thanks anyway!
You would be correct if everyone was having that issue. I don't have that issue and never have. It would stand to recon one of your parts on your computer the game doesn't like. Because something during that situation is going on in the game that your computer can't handle.
Not everyone needs to experience the same problem with an application, in order to be correct that the application is flawed. Results can differ even with identical hardware --shaders, features, etc.
The bug sometimes occurs in that spot, and sometimes it does not, yet there has been no change to my hardware.
I might not have even encountered the bug at all, if I didn't play through the Safe Haven DLC 25+ times, which I doubt everyone who owns it has done.
My hardware is well beyond the recommended requirements for the game.
I have encountered many occasions where newer hardware runs older games *too well*.
If anything, it's that my hardware is doing something that the game "can't handle" lol.
AI isn't supported anymore AFAIK, so I don't really care that much. I still think it's a fantastic game though and hope that some other company tries to develop another game with the same spirit.
Don't let disinformation about mods stop you from enjoying them.
Now this is comical!
Thanks for acknowledging this! Another online friend of mine who loves the game also confirmed that this had happened to him on more than one occasion, and surprisingly it was in the other DLC, Lost Contact, during one of the final tasks --which also supports that the bug is a part of the normal game. You're quite right; it's not uncommon that any video game's extended runtime can increase the likelyhood of bugs occurring.
It is definitely true that I am the player type that pushes/rushes through the levels, happy to actively thwart or confront the alien:
I REALLY push the timings on almost all of the device interaction and item delays, and I strongly think that I press more keys/attempt more simultaneous game actions than the average player. I am constantly browsing item interfaces and switching weapons to check ammo and such while moving and during any transitions that allow for it. Old FPS habits I guess.
It did occur to me that it was HOW I was playing the game that caused me to experience bugs a bit more than other players. I see the famous floating weapons, missing sound effects and other more commonly known bugs pretty often, but they never bothered me because they're superficial.
What bothers me is when i'm cornered by an approaching alien mid-late game, without a save, and suddenly I can't use anything LOL
I've decided to start saving just before the last two tasks now, just in case.
