How To Add Epic Version of Alien Isolation to Steam Without Breaking Save Games
I recently started playing Alien Isolation that I got as part of the free Epic giveaway. I always like to add non-Steam games to Steam, though, to be able to strongly modify my controller settings (via Steam Input), and have reliable screenshots.

However, the usual method of pointing to the EXE (and/or sometimes having to use the command -epicportal to make the game bypass the Epic Launcher directly) broke Alien Isolation's save game system.

Because of this I finally got around to developing a more reliable way to launch Epic games that require the launcher and put it in a guide. I tried to post the guide as an Alien Isolation guide, but since I don't own it on Steam, I had to post it in the guide section of a game I played on Steam but just so happen to have on Epic too, Hand of Fate 2 (fun game btw!).

Here's the guide just in case it helps someone, because I've been using it with Alien Isolation:

HAhaha Man I am in the exact same spot as you. Got it off Epic Games but miss the steam community and features. I completed my first run on medium on the Epic Games version but picked up this copy from the summer sale and now playing it on hard. I just started a fresh copy. I wish I could import my saves but I had a feeling it would be a pain and it seems like your post confirms this.

Cheers!

Ha!
I found it here:
C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\The Creative Assembly\Alien Isolation

Yeah I'm not super sure, been a while since I played it.
I just looked at its PCGW page
https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Alien:_Isolation
and looked at some clues for what the save folder might be called.

Then I searched my personal windows folder for *alien* no dice because it was skipping my "appdata" folders (which are typically hidden and non-indexed, so windows skips searching them and only looks at the root index where my personal folder is included).
Then I started searching through my appdata folders specifically starting with c:\users\<USERNAME>\appdata\local and I found the Alien Isolation folder (sometimes it's in roaming or locallow).

If I was just being set-it-and-forget-it I would have searched through my entire c:\ drive for alien, alienisolation, or alien isolation to see if it found something. I also cheated and used GameSave Manager to find it more quickly while my other searches were running. GameSave Manager is great for stuff like that.

Anyway, check in the folder:
C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\The Creative Assembly\Alien Isolation

and then copy it over (but not before backing up the files already in) the steam location, pulled from the PCGW site:
<Steam-folder>\userdata\<user-id>\214490\remote

Hope it works, but it may be too late for you, but maybe it'll help someone, good luck!
