And a few hundred million dollars...
only if you are planning on making a game like Red dead... games like Alien isolation can be done for far less than that. Most non open world games don;t cost anywhere near that.
Don't listen to these people, they probably have never worked on game development projects such as the Unreal Engine 4. As long as you don't make money off it, it's for learning purposes and fun only, and you could also make your own games with the info below, by using the characters and models as placeholders until you can make your own, and you could also ask to work for the ones that own the Aliens series, when your project becomes well developed, or at least when the project is decent.
1. First start out by looking up the Epic Games Launcher, download it free and also create a free account.
Go here and click on the button called "Download" at the top right corner of the web site.
https://www.unrealengine.com/en-US/
2. Open the Epic Games Launcher, download the latest version of the Unreal Engine 4.
3. Go into the tab that says "Unreal Engine", Click on the "Marketplace", at the top.. move the mouse over the tab that says Free. Click on "Free For The Month" Grab all the free content that seems reasonable, but not the ones from Epic Games, only their Paragon maps, special effects, and Paragon a.i. / bots, also grab some of the other creatures / monsters they have that are probably not Paragon related, and then go to the tab called "Permanently Free Collection", grab the most reasonable items, some could be used for later with other projects or for the same project, keep that in mind.
3. Find Epic Game's other maps and content, such as trees, grass / bushes, and other stuff such as rocks, any type of object. Then find the animated stuff to place into characters, and find some melee combat abilities to use in blueprints, find any content that seems reasonable, even a locomotion system for the feet going up and down hills realistically.
4. Look up tutorials on youtube, there are some really useful older tutorials, sadly a lot of them don't work when you update the Unreal Engine 4, so go through them and see what works, and also use the latest versions of those tutorials and new tutorials on youtube.
You can find a range of all kinds of tutorials, and make a game like Horizon: Zero Dawn so easily, you have already missed a few "Free For The Month" really handy free content in the Epic Games desktop app, one was the locomotion system was for free, for the month.. and some other types that were very necessary for specific popular titles, that could have even been used for projects like an Aliens game. Also don't forget to grab chairs, desks, vents and other objects, be creative. Remember that items can be replaced later on in the project, you can use these free items as placeholders for testing and building your animations, blueprints, game project and so on. And then replace them slowly with the "actual" models of characters you want to use, such as the aliens, predators and colonial space marines, once you figure out how to use Blender, or other tools to make objects to import into the Unreal Engine 4's latest version, and / or if you can find a team, or even another person that is artistic, another that is a musician "easy to get anyone for music and sounds, and harder to get artists and model creators / animations". You can also learn about the Unreal Engine 4's animation area, but I would read the other stuff below first, figure out if you can find someone nice enough to help you out with "Generic" models first, start out as prototypes / alpha gameplay with cheesy gameplay and character models, that's how it starts.. and then you replace said generic models with updates in visual quality later on after you have your game doing what you need in a very basic or better situation.
On youtube, search for seasonal weather, you can make snow angels, have snow tracks, dirt tracks, your characters shoe can have snow or dirt on its sides when walking, vehicle tires can have snow on them or mud, you can also watch mud fly and gather on the wheels of your vehicle, you can also have deep snow to walk through which can either leave deep snow prints or body prints depending on how deep the snow is, swimming, interacting with the water, movement, shifting from walk to run leaning motion, shift from that to leaning sideways and then running backwards, climbing rocks with specific blueprints, climb ladders, jump up to grab ledges, melee and / or ranged weapons, punching / kicking, shield blocking, spell using, special effects blueprints, backgrounds and large object placing tutorials, mountains that are actually mountains with snow or other weather on them that looks very accurate, trails / paths, leaves falling and blowing in the wind, hair animation and hair movement with weather, cloth animation when moving or turning, creating new hair to animate, creating new cloth to animate, show on the User Interface when your character is cold or too hot, or make your character show that it's cold or too hot in real time, water tutorials, water animations, water splashes when going in and out of the water with your character, lava tutorials and change how the lava looks and flows "some are better than others on youtube with tutorials on lava", dynamic interactive grass tutorials "Horizon: Zero Dawn, with the tall grass interaction is the most amazing interactive tall grass I've seen in a video game the way it is pushed by the main character", large oceans with giant squid "try to use the height maps by downloading a real area such as the Mariana Trench and the Challenger Deep", and then use tutorials on youtube to get them to work right.
Before using Height maps, I would recommend youtube tutorials on making environments for maps, such as land, water, mountains and so on. Height maps of real areas, would come next.
Volumetric Fog, Volumetric Lighting, and the list goes on.
5. Click on the tab that says "Learn" in the Epic Games Launcher.
Basically the Unreal Engine 4 does many things for you already, you just have to learn from youtube tutorials, download free content and take advantage of that to use blueprints on the model characters and objects in the game that you place, kind of like programming them, but blueprints are much easier to use.
Some fans made high detail characters for the Unreal Engine 4.
For all of these videos, Steam seems to lower the quality sometimes, be sure to click the little gear on the bottom right corner of the video, and set it to 1080p, if it does that.

There are so many other things in youtube tutorials for the Unreal Engine 4, that I haven't mentioned here, and I can't remember right now, though I might update it later.
I hope this was useful for anyone looking to start making 2D and / or 3D games.
Enjoy!

We are literally "living in a Graphene Age, and a Quantum World" as Graphene and Quantum Computers mature and accelerate.
Don't believe me? Go to the playlists I have listed there above in the 2 links, and watch Quantum Computing, also watch all the other playlists to find out. And check out the articles in the playlist description by clicking the "more" button. When you go to the second link above, click on the title / text of each playlist, not the pictures. Please share.
As soon as FOX gets even the smallest HINT of a game being developed by the community, It will be locked down and you will get FOX's legal team on your back.
First they will issue a "Cease and Desist" order, And if you don't accept and you continue development.. Welp.. Expect an extremely large and expensive lawsuit from FOX for using their assets and their IP and other copyrighted works ( the alien character, the character names and all kinds of stuff like motion trackers etc )
As much as I'd like to see a brand new game following the end of AI, I just can't see it happening, And CERTAINLY NOT by the community.
Bingo. Anyone remember that lovely Quake TC from back in the 90's? Alien Quake never got through alpha before getting Foxed.
