Issues with Epic Games install & Launching through Steam
So, because Epic has pretty poor controller support, I have to launch this through Steam: add as non-steam game and set the launch command ' -EpicPortal '.

However, there is a strange issue with this game being launched via Steam - you can't seem to load save files. Even when you save in game, there are no error messages. Very odd.

My working solution to playing A:I with PS4/5 and Switch Pro controller support, is to instead install GOG Galaxy (if you haven't already), connect your Epic account, THEN add GOG as a non-Steam game in Steam.

Now: open Steam; make sure your controller is on and found by Steam, launch GOG through Steam; launch A:I through GOG... BOOM, full controller support and save file function.

I know this is a bit of a pain, but it works. I did note that when launching via GOG, you see an Epic notification in the top right corner about cloud saving, but you don't see that launching A:I just through Steam, so I think that is where the issue is, the current Steam hooking method has issues with this game (and maybe even others). I didn't have this issue when launching Epic install of Subnautica through Steam though.

I doubt many people here have played A:I through EPIC. Have you tried asking on their A:I forum?

It was recently free on there, you see, which is why I'm giving it a go, but I need controller support and Epic basically has crappy controller support, Steam has fantastic controller support.

My solution is working out great. I seriously doubt that Epic, Steam or the devs would give a rats behind about this issue. I only posted this to try and help anyone else out with this slightly unique issue.

That's great! I hang around here too to help people despite not playing for around 2 years lol. Just seems weird to post it here. Won't people who buy it on EPIC go to the EPIC forum or do they still not have forums?

I don't know, but maybe it will come up in a google search if someone is looking for it. I've done my bit ;-)
