Carrying a molotov near the alien
So by now, we have all noticed the bright glow the molotov emits when we have it equipped. My question is, can the alien see the light being emitted?

It's hard to be 100% sure of it because generally if the Alien can see the light, it can see you as well. I imagine that the reason so many items glow is to give away your position and that humans, synths, and the alien can see them but I'd need to dig into the code to find out for sure.

The alien will absolutely spot you more easily if you are holding a molotov, I've seen it several times. It simply makes you a more visible target, the only question is by how much.

The alien definitely spots you more easily if you're holding anything that emits any kind of light - especially the molotov, or any of the other gizmos that have flashing lights on them.

You would think that the molotov would merely appear to be one of the various open flames that are scattered about the station, especially near the end.

That'll be wonderful if you are able to.

Thanks for all your responses. I'm a bit surprised by how realistic the game can be in some aspects. Who knew equipping a weapon that acts as a light source would actually emit a noticeable glow.

IIRC, only the molotov makes you easier to spot. The other few objects with lights on them don't change anything, nor can the alien hear the ticking of the noisemaker before it's thrown.

When the xenomorph hisses, that’s a warning that it’s locking onto you, and this is your last chance to be absolutely quiet.

Though the xenomorph cannot hear the noisemaker, it would make sense that it could, and that the hiss would be a warning to either throw the noisemaker, or put it away.

My question is: can it still see you carrying the molotov if you press the Lean button? (When you press Lean, Ripley lowers the molotov off the screen.)
