where did they "borrow" the Working-Joe android design from?
I'm 100% positive I've seen that android design in an old movie. Probably from the 70s or 60s.
They looked exactly like in the game, complete with the throat wrinkles and light eyes.
I assume it's an hommage, but I can't remember the movie.
I don't recall that type of androids anywhere in the alien franchise. Or was it?

I never saw them and correct me if I'm wrong but weren't they a competitor to utani? So weren't these ones basically made to be pissants? Not the complex ones utani makes?

I personally liked the battle droids in AVP more, these ones felt like i was fighting the crash dummies. But they were the best fights in this disappointing game.

Androids in the Alien movies were always highly advanced Weyland-Yutani models, designed to be indistinguishable from real human beings.

The Working Joe androids in this game are not made by Weyland-Yutani, they're made by Seegson. They're a much cheaper off-brand android, not nearly as sophisticated as the Wey-Yu ones.

Samuels is a Weyland-Yutani android.

yeah similar mask technique, but I am thinking about a science fiction movie. Or maybe it was an episode in a TV show like DR who or the british avengers.

You're one of the only people I've ever seen to call this game "disappointing."

I think it was Phantomas too. His volcano hideout looks pretty science fictiony. That and Yul Brynners eyes in Westworld, and I guess our minds created a character that reminds us of the Working Joes in Alien: Isolation :) Originally I also thought it was some black and white sci-fi TV series...

It's subtle, but if you do side-by-side comparisons, then you'll notice a strong resemblance between the Working Joe model and John Hurt (from the chest-burster scene in Alien).

What's notable is that John Hurt doesn't do any voice work for the Nostromo Logs, which makes sense if he voiced the Working Joes, to avoid anyone picking up on an immersion-breaking resemblance.

As Okiimatsu says it's from training dummies from the 70s. There's information on it on the AI wiki
