Can I explore now?
I've just kicked out the alien, is it now safe to explore the map?

With safe i mean, just without a big alien

You can explore without worrying about the alien (once you reach a transit area) but some areas will remain locked off until you complete further missions. As soon as you pick up the level 3 access tuner, then you can fully explore

The alien is not the only threat on Sevastapol. And remember, if you don't get off the station, you die.

No, now is not the best time to explore. The best time to explore is later in the game. You'll get to a point in the game where you have to go through a locked door that can only be opened with the access tuna level 3. Someone will say to you, over the headset you are wearing "look around, there has to be a way because Marlowe got through" and then you'll find a level 3 access tuner in that room.

At this point, don't do through the door to advance the story - turn back and explore Sevastopol at your own leisure. This is the point where you have level 3 in every tool, so you can open every door and explore all the stuff you couldn't before. Then when you're done, go through the door and continue the story.

Well I'm not gonna spoil it for you... there may or may not be another alien.

However, you're playing a game about the alien. The part where you blast it into the gas planet and get back on Sevastopol is only roughly 50% of the way through the game. Do you really think a game about the alien would get rid of the alien half way through and not bring it back?

Don't worry, I've watched the game before, I was just asking if on that point there will be an Alien again.

It's been a year or more since I last played the game... I think there might actually be two aliens at that point lol.

That means no exploration for me :)

You can fully explore with just one alien around as usual, two aliens only appear in certain special areas which you can't access anyway while doing a standard exploration. If you avoid running or making noise, the alien often won't come out

But by this point in the game you'll have the flamethrower and tons of pipe bombs and molotovs (the tons of materials to make pipe bombs and molotovs).

Exploring with the alien thumping around in the vents is the most thrilling part of this game man.
