[SPOILERS] Alternate Good Ending
Instead of taking the shuttle to the Anesidora she could have taken herself and Ricardo to the Torrens instead and got out of there. Sorry Taylor, you chose your fate. Marlow would have destroyed the station and the aliens and we could have had an alien ending where things actually went right with no stowaways.

And no, I'm not talking about going to the Anesidora first and then the Torrens because yes I know, the shuttle is damaged. I'm talking about going to the Torrens INSTEAD of going to the Anesidora.

She can't at that point. She has no communication with Torrens and doesn't know where it is. She probably could try to contact Torrens from Anisedora but we know what happened there so I don't think it is an option. Besides she did what she did because of...story ;) Remember that Amanda is a good guy. She has to try and save the survivors that are still on the Sevastopol. She can't be a selfish a-hole like Burke in Aliens.

The Torrens pulls away for repairs after the explosion that separates Amanda from the rest of the team, and is unreachable from Sevastopol. The only reason Amanda can reach the Anesidora is because it already docks on the station.

Anisedora doesn't dock with the station. It is somwhere in the orbit of gas giant. That is why Amanada used an "ambulance" or some kind of emergency shuttle to reach it.

The Anesidora didn't dock with Sevastopol though, Marlow simply brought it close to the station. And Ricardo mentions the shuttles being short-range.

This artwork is so great! I alway thought it was the Torrens. I remember there was another one with some kind of maintenance crew working on it. It's good that we get to see similar views from the windows of Sevastopol in the game.

Just take an ambulance out into space, short range or not anything is better than the station or being shot out into space in just a space suit. The Torrens comes back after repairs, wouldn't just leave the EVA team, just sit out in space inside the ambulance and wait. I doubt it's tethered to the station, short range is just a term.

I'd imagine short range means it doesn't have much fuel or more importantly oxygen to remain operational for any extended period. And the shuttle's small size might make it difficult for Torrens to even notice it. Of course, we don't know what sort of beacon or comms system the shuttle has, but I doubt it's anything fancy either.
