Yeah, there's no such thing as a self-aware AI. We know it's only the illusion of learning.
Same way as if you use noisemakers too much it will start to ignore them.
Every game is very easy once you know how its AI works. That's how games have always been. Even games which were designed to be extremely difficult are extremely easy once you know how the enemy AI works, which is why Youtube is full of Dark Souls no damage no saves runs.
It's easy to get around by walking and hiding under tables once you know what you're doing, yes. Before that though you die. A lot. And new players tend not to figure out very quickly how to avoid the alien so easily. They spend a lot of time in one place waiting for it to go in the vents, and their hiding place of choice is almost always a locker.
