The alien has about 3x the health of a working joe. So time yourself when killing three working joes, and that will give you an idea of how much time you have when fighting an alien (whilst it's mauling you).
No, and there is not likely to ever be one.
There is a mod that removes the alien from the game entirely (as well as all other enemies) if that interests you.

By the way, are you saying those who enjoy the game with an unkillable alien are not fans?
You do actually kill some of the aliens through the story but you just don't get to blow them up with your IEDs or gun them down to do it.
That's curious. I might have seen the video that you referred to, but all I can say is that they didn't really have a lot of solid firepower to use against the caged alien. They mostly used a bit of flamethrower and molotov, and six revolver rounds that might have bounced off the enclosure.
The way health scales:
working joe = 6x health of a human npc
reinforced joe (reactor) = 150% health of a working joe
alien = 3x health of a working joe
So the ratios are:
human : joe : reinforced joe : alien = 1 : 6 : 9 : 18
For a nightmare playthrough, to kill a reinforced joe reliably, it takes (to the head): two shotgun hits, and (minimum) three revolver hits (with more hits required if the hit detection is off).
With an alien having twice the health of a reinforced joe, the alien would require (to the head): four shotgun hits, and six revolver hits.
Alien colonial marines, has all the alien shooting you want without pesky predators to interrupt the bug hunt.
