After searching for it, the answer is a bit clearer: it's a Kinect feature. Your PC does not have Kinect.
Also it seems to be a universally reviled feature, because the noise detection is completely off and any background noise in your flat will kill you. Intense experience, my ass...
Like on xbox there an option to have the mic on so the alien and other enmies could hear you
its not just a connect feature, i didnt have a kinnect at the time and my headset mic worked for it
unfortunately it wasnt implemented on PC :(
