How can the people on Sevastopol not just simply kill the alien?
I mean, the game takes place like 100+ years in the future, in space. I'm pretty sure that people, atleast those of higher ranks, have some sort of futuristic weapons. Like, it's literally just a creature barely taller than a normal human itself. Just shoot the damn thing with your futurstic weaponry, I doubt that the aliens skin is so thick that NOTHING can penetrate it.

Because they aren't marines and they don't have "futuristic weaponry" - much like the colonists in Aliens.

I don't have any knowledge about the whole alien thing other than from the game, that's why I am asking

Well, the first movie, Alien, took aboard a spaceship and the problem was they couldn't kill the creature because it's acid blood would melt through the hull. Now, that's probably not such a big problem on a huge station like Sevastopol, but since Isolation heavily takes after the horror style of the first movie they made the alien "indestructible" in the game as well, instead of the action "cannon fodder" style that Aliens introduced and most Alien-themed games follow.

But I think it's concievable that revolvers and shotguns and DIY bombs wouldn't kill the creature. The marines in Aliens had much heavier and better weapons at their disposal.

But if you have the time, you really should watch at least the first two movies, Alien and Aliens, to get a better understanding of the lore. Not to mention they are great movies, if quite different in style, as I said before.

Thanks! I will definitely watch the movies as soon as I can, the game got me pretty interested already with the mere 6hrs of playtime I have.

Couldn't have put it better myself Antti-san! The first two movies are definitely fantastic, and the accounts of the earth war comic (Which is in audio book form on youtube and continues the story far better than alien 3) definitely create an incredible, albiet terrifying universe to become engrossed in. As for adding my own thoughts to killing the alien, (Without spoiling either movie) sevastapol is essentially a run down and very much civilian station, and while it is the future it's not a sleek shiny future.

It's grungy, crtv moniters crammed everywhere, dark dank hallways, pretty much what many people thought the future would look like in 1979. While there are those futuristic weapons in universe, they are more reserved for the marines as Antii said above. Everything on sevastapol is lowest bidder, including the working joes which aren't even close to the sophisticated synthetics potrayed in most alien fiction.

I hope you enoy the movies though! They'll definitely shed some light on exactly how hard to kill the "perfect organism" is without incredible fire power.

Keep in mind the scenes in the Alien series where conventional weapons --failed-- to penetrate the alien's carapace. Shotgun inside the mouth, yeah. Armor piercing Pulse Rifle rounds? Sure. Pistol bullets to the dome? Nope. Small arms fire? Nothing. Takes quite a bit to actually do something to these guys.

This.

I only recently became an Alien fan, but I distinctly remember from my first time through the movies that the only time the Aliens got mowed down like grass was when there were professional marines equiped with Armor-piercing exploding machine guns.

Essentially, they were little fully automatic missile launchers that should thousands of rounds a minute. It took THAT much and they still had diffficulty killing them all.

OP, you really owe it to yourself to watch Alien, and should also check out HR Giger in a search engine if you're unfamiliar with his "biomechanoid" artwork. The Alien (or Xenomorph, as fans often call it) is literally a piece of Giger's artwork, which explains how a monster that still looks extremely cool today managed to make an appearance in 1970s cinema (a lot of monsters from back in the day were pretty campy-looking).

People have offered plenty of answers already, but let's review the Alien's capabilities: It's very strong, very fast and agile, its carapace is extremely tough, it has strong primal instincts not unlike a bear or a lion, yet it also has near-human cunning and can be extremely stealthy even in seemingly wide-open areas. It also has strongly acidic blood, which complicates trying to kill it.

I can't say much about its origins as that's a franchise spoiler, but it has either evolved or been created to survive and thrive not on a cushy ocean planet with cities and fancy technology and muffin shops, but in the harshness of space.

Unprepared, untrained civilians are basically a bag of Chee-Tos to even a single Alien. Ripley (from the first movie) only survived due to intrepidity, good instincts, and quite a lot of luck.

Aside from its near-indestructability in relation to the civilian firearms Sevastopol is limited to, the alien is like a ninja in that it can appear and disappear and travel all over the station in safety thanks to the vent system which is just the right size for it crawl through. As one of the audio logs says later in the game, "Sevastopol is like a maze... It could be anywhere"

Imagine you're playing as the xenomorph in Alien: Isolation, what's the worst that could happen to you? Drop into a room with multiple people carrying flamethrowers perhaps? No problem, just run back to your vent and go somewhere else to pick off more vulnerable humans, or even stay where you are and snatch them from above when they let their guard down (this even happens to experienced players occasionally, so in real life the people would have no chance against this tactic)

Also, if you could just kill it with a few shots from a .45, there wouldn't be much of a game (or movie).

Rolling credits after a few minutes because of "realism" concerns is pretty much comedy skit material. Kinda like this:

because by the time they realized the issue it presented, it had captured several of them and multiplied. thats why the damn critter always seems nearby and seemly 'teleports' around the crawlspaces randomly. theres actually more than one hunting you throughout most of the game. oh and i seem to recall the droids turning on the population because the company was more interested in it than the crew. might be mistaken on that though, been awhile. there were however definitely more than one on your heels for most of the game.

Its alien that its futuristic bio weapon. Acid blood, quick responses, bullet proof armor.

And this is survival game. For shooting, check Alien Colonial Marines, where they are poorly represented as pulse rifle meat.

For isolation, you are to avoid meeting alien, as its deadly to you

Thanks for all the answers guys. As I said, I haven't watched the movies yet, but I am planning to. For now I just want to finish the game first

That is not entirely true. Vasquez did manage to kill a xeno with a pistol in the air duct. True it was at point blank range but still.
On the off topic besides the guy taking an alien in hand-to-hand combat in Alien (Parker) and Alien 3 (Dillon), this is the second most bad ass thing the character did in the entire trilogy.

I KNOW! I hate this game and never finished it because in real life I WOULD kill it. It's just an animal, and I'm not scared of it. LOL! There's a lot of ways to kill something that don't involve it bleeding all over the hull.
