Strange symbol stuck on game screen
So I just decided to replay this game after being away from it for about a year, and the first thing I'm greeted with as soon as I launch the game is this strange symbol/radar thing on the right hand side of the screen.
I have no idea what it might be, couldn't find any info/posts about it, and I've tried all I can think of (except reinstalling the game) to get rid of it.
It appears as soon as I launch the game, and stays on every screen splash/menu/ingame.
I really don't want to reinstall the game as my internet connection is quite slow, any clues on what to do? Link to said symbol thing: https://imgur.com/sKHy6Ch

Hmm... have you verified the game's cache? (right click in library, properties, local files, verify integrity of game files)? That just checks the integrity of all your files and replaces any files that do not match official ones. It may overwrite any mods you have in the process.

Is this symbol appearing on any other games?

Have you plugged in any new pieces of hardware since the last time you played the game? Like a new mouse, new keyboard, new headphones? (I doubt this could be it, I'm really scraping the barrel of ideas because I've never seen anything like this before)

Yup, I've tried verifying the cache, no result.

Symbol only appears in this game, it sort of works like a radar that very loosely points to the "quest objectives" with an arrow on the outer circle, whenever I'm in-game.

The only piece of hardware that I've changed is my 2nd monitor which I tried unplugging, changing settings / priority on, both out of -and in-game, no result.

Starting to look like I just have to reinstall the game as it also crashed on me twice in about 30 min of gameplay, and hope it works correctly the 2nd time around.
I am curious what has happened though, can't think of anything that would cause this.

It's actually working to point you to quest objectives? That's bizarre. But before you re-download the whole game, maybe you could try deleting one or two files/folders that deal with the motion tracker, and empty your recycle bin, then verify cache again and let STEAM re-download those files.

Sounds like some file got screwed up somehow.

Finally figured out what the problem was! Apparently the sound software I'm using (Nahimic) decided that it really wants to show off it's big ugly logo ONLY when I'm play Alien Isolation, and that arrow I saw around the outer ring; apparently it indicates where loud in-game sound comes from, not where the next quest objective is.
Anyways, I just disabled it for this game and can now enjoy it to the fullest.

Thank you for your help in trying to solve this somewhat bizzare issue. :)

Ah ha! Awesome. So this sound software of yours... it could almost be a cheat in FPS games like PUBG.

Hey I have the exact same problem, do you know how to disable it? I can't figure out how

EDIT: Aye mate it's all good now, don't worry about it. I just looked through my apps and found the Nahimic app and disabled the sound tracker! Thanks for pointing out what it was though, I wouldn't have found out otherwise haha!
So for anyone else wondering how to disable it just open the Nahimic app either through Dragon Centre or type it in your search bar, then go to the sound tracker tab and disable it!

This looks like Realtek's Sonic Radar to me.
