I'm on chapter 17 and thinking of turning it down to novice mode to power through to the end. Game's way too long for how tense it is.

I will never finish it because it is a bad game.
Atmosphere is fantastic, but the actual gameplay is hot, simple garbage. "stealth" where ♥♥♥♥ can see a mile away, no idea where to go but expected to trial&error fail repeatedly to find it.
Was happy to move on from saying this from weeks ago but a special raging little poopstain hate-posted on my steam profile that I'm ♥♥♥♥ for disliking the game.
So I have to say it again - it's a bad game. And I will keep saying this for years now, more actively.

(No but seriously. The first forced stealth section against humans is ♥♥♥♥ and made me quit the game perma. Insultingly bad mechanics)

That part is well-known for being one of the only rage-quit inducing challenges in the game, but even that is easy when you know how. It's not bad mechanics - if it was real life you would have the same trouble sneaking through, actually worse trouble as they would be less predictable.

This isn't real life.
You're in space. Against aliens that don't exist. This is a video game.
Realism that seeks to be in front of the FUN of gaming is doing it *wrong*.

It's not realism really, it's matching the movie (which is the whole point of the game). Most of it is pretty standard stealth gameplay honestly, if you hate stealth then you'll hate the game. The big alien chapters are a little different, but having it hunt you is pretty much what the movie demanded, gameplay wise.

I'm aware of the slightly cheating AI that "sends" the alien at you - including where you need to go - to keep up artificial (but effective) tension. I quite like Metal Gear , I just hate badly implemented mechanics. Long sight ranges, accuracy, *zero ways of healing*, *zero* indicator where to go for a stressful, badly designed section.
Simply don't feel it deserves my time after it so badly disrespected it.
