If you play on normal and above, it feels like it really is stalking you.
the ai is amazing and it really feels life a stealth game. though the alien is not there from the start, it is scary when you have it hunt you for the first time. If you want to really be scared, play it with vr
Very solid and challenging experience on hard which is the default settings. There are some annoying spots not because it is too hard but because some things felt unnecessary. But great anyways.

I loved the game. One of my favorite things was that it stayed true to Alien's 1970s-era technology as well as the look and feel of the movie. It's a shame the sales weren't better, it really is an enjoyable game. If you like Alien, you'll probably like this game. It's a game with a lot of stealth and I found it very satisfying to outwit/outmaneuver the Alien. If you want a really tough experience, play it on the highest difficulty. Remember to save often. :)

Play the game on easier difficulties, if you play it on hard you'll die too much and the more you die the more boring and mundane the game becomes because it turns into a save scumming procedure and all the fear fades away really quick.

The less you die the more your fear level rises.

That only happens if the player is incapable of learning from his mistakes.

Hard is the way to go.

It takes a while to reach the best parts (mission 5 onwards) but it's well worth it.

Great game. I have already 82 hours on the clock but I'm going in again to get last 2 achievements. :fear:

Great game but ignore the 'meant to be played on hard' menu advice and play on whatever difficulty you usually play games. I thought the game was better on medium, less frustration and more tension. My main gripe with the game is the human npc behaviour outside of scripted sequences - pretty unconvincing and a real missed opportunity.

Weird question. Play the game and decide for yourself.

The AI is definitely not as good as people make it out to be, it is heavily scripted and it is similar to how your average Horror game's AI functions.

It usually consists of these scenarios.

Player either picks up an important item or triggers an objective creation/completion > AI then spawns.

AI (Alien for example) will usually linger around the players location until the Player has activated another objective trigger, then it will disappear and won't be in the vents anymore until another objective is triggered in a different area.

Also, the movement of the AI is predictable, it's always the same routes repeated.

Alien will go from Room 1 > Room 2 > Room 3 > Room 4 > Room 3 > Room 2 > Room 1 > Room 2 > Room 3 > Room 4. Repeated. Same thing when Synths are moving around the room, you'll notice that they constantly walk to the same areas, turn around and go back to the exact same place where they previously stood less than a minute ago, looking in the same direction.

Another thing that irritates me is how the Alien seems to ignore other Survivors talking and shouting to each other whilst it's in the Vents above them, yet as soon as you start running it'll jump down and try kill you? There's been a few occasions where the AI has been completely blind and not seen me.

The AI is the most overrated thing about this game, regardless it's still a great game though.

Take my advice kiddo: Take things nice and slow, the game can be trial and error at times. If you want, Watch Tyler1 play the entire game. that entire livestream series is a good example of: How NOT to play Alien Isolation, He makes the game look 10x's harder than it really is, on Medium difficulty of all things.
