It has its own specialized ammo. Save them up for the latter missions. You also can't use them on the Working Joes that wear hazmat suits. They require a bolt to the head.
This is my first run through and I'm loving it. I need to take note of your advice re saving ammo. I found that the pistol is nearly useless. Not because it doesn't kill; it does that fine. It's just that when you use it, the big fella turns up and that's loads worse than a few humans.
My present position (isolating the stairs in the spire) leaves me without much that is effective against the working Joes....hence I need to keep an eye out for more stun baton ammo. I'll carry on sneaking about for now.
The bolt gun also seemed to require more finesse than I was allowing for. Most of the androids that I came across by that point seemed to be better dealt with via pipebombs. I had so many parts by then I usually had everything ready to go but my inventory was full. If the pipebomb didn't do it, a few gunshots would finish the problem.
Of course, everything draws the attention of everything, so I can see that the stun baton has merit that I hadn't found.
I was always curious about how the noise maker solicited a fire related response from the androids, but the flare was often just an unathorized illumination apparatus or other such novel curiousity to them.
The alien, of course, once was quite appreciative of my tossing the flare at it -- it seemed confused like why do I have this oh cool its like WAIT I NEED TO EAT YOUR FACE COME BACK but by then some civvie walked into the room and I was save. He was not, but winning the game doesn't involve being nice to anyone in the game at all because the script really didn't take compassion and team building into account.
