Lol, after all this time, I just realized...
Did anybody else fail to notice this obvious part of the story or is it just me that's dumb as hell?

At the end of the game, when Ripley does her final space walk, activates the explosive clamp release, hooks herself on to a railing, and the aliens are looking at her, and just as they're about to grab her she presses the button and there's an explosion...

I always wondered how the hell she ended up being blown toward the Torrens in this scenario. It didn't make sense to me. "Why is she hooking herself up to Sevastopol, and how the hell did she get on the Torrens when she was hooked up to Sevastopol?" is what I wondered.

Derp. You're actually on top of the Torrens in the space walk scene. Torrens is still clamped to Sevastopol from when it docked earlier. When Ripley hooks herself up to the railing she's hooking herself up to the Torrens, which she's on top of, and when the Torrens accelerates away from the station she gets pulled along with it because she's hooked up to it.

I can't believe I didn't notice this in any of my several playthroughs. Too busy admiring the beautifulness of space I guess. Also this totally explains how the hell an alien got on the Torrens at the end. It was clamped on to Sevastopol for an hour or so whilst Verlaine waited for Ripley to come back (Ripley got grabbed by an alien and taken to the new nest after extending the docking clamps).

Yeah, this is why you're destroying the docking clamp.

As for the alien getting on the Torrens, right before you blow up the docking clamp, you hear Verlaine telling Amanda that she set the door on auto so that Amanda could get in. It is implied that this is how one of the aliens got on board.
You should mark the thread as spoiler.

'Manda should've screamed at Verlaine not to set the airlock to auto...

Actually, thinking about it now, did Amanda even know at that point that aliens can survive in the vacuum of space? Maybe she didn't think it was necessary to warn.

If what you experience during the game is Amanda, she has to have known. During mission 16 after you reset the satellite dish to contact the Torrens, on your way back you can see an alien crawling around outside of Sevastopol and later entering the station through a vent, presumably. It is implied that it's the alien the drops down in the middle of the comms room once you re-enter the station and take the elevator up.

On top of that, during the sequence of destroying the docking clamp, there's an alien observing you from a distance.

Hmm, then Amanda definitely screwed up big time by not warning Verlaine.

I would not be suprised if Amanda had PTSD/ suffering a mental breakdown - she might not be thinking too well due to this and the failing state of Sevastapols enviromental systems

I dunno about that. What was she supposed to do? If the doors were to remain locked, she would've been left drifting outside.

She was in contact with them... could've grabbed on to Sevastopol and said "Hey, I'm outside the airlock, open it now".

When you do the spacewalk to reactivate the relay, you see a xenomorph crawling outside the station on your way back, so yeah, Amanda probobly should've given some warning. But then again, she was probably so worried about getting off the station, and away from the xenomorphs, thatit just didn't occur to her
There are no logs in the whole game pointing at that survivors knew about Aliens can survive the vacuum and the cold of space.

No, but you see it during the game, which means Amanda sees it, which means Amanda knew.

Yeah Amanda definitely knew. It's been like a year since I last did a playthrough, I forgot that Amanda actually sees one walking on the OUTSIDE of the station. This was before Verlaine told Ripley she was putting the airlock on auto, so she knew they could operate in space.

I guess Ripley was so stressed out that she didn't realize what would happen to the crew of Torrens with the airlock on auto. Understandable. She's dealing with 2 aliens, psychotic androids, and has about 10 minutes before Sevastopol burns up in the atmosphere of a gas giant.

Yeah, but Amanda never say something about it. And as she just go back from her first spacetrip, the player do not have to look around and can miss to see the alien crawling at sevastopol. As i did the first time playing.
Besides...we do not no nothing about the crew of the torrens. The alien was on the bridge, fine. Are all members of the torrens on the bridge?
And there may be another ship or so near Amanda in space, cause to a light shining on her helmet, right before finish. We shall see.... :-D

We won't see, that's the problem. Nobody is going to make a sequel to this game because it didn't sell very well (2 million copies isn't much by today's standard I guess). So we have to guess.

Personally I've always thought the light at the end was from another ship, not the Torrens. I think it's a Weyland Yutani ship full of scientists and private military forces that has come to board Sevastopol and take control of the aliens for scientific purposes. But Sevastopol is gone and all they find is the Torrens (with two corpses on board) and Ripley and an alien floating in space.

I'm like... 99% sure the crew of the Torrens (which is only Verlaine and Connor) are dead. They both would have been on the bridge because they needed to immediately leave the gas giant as soon as Ripley released the docking clamps to free them, or they will be sucked in to the gas giant with Sevastopol. I doubt either Verlaine or Connor were taking a nap. Both definitely on the bridge flying the ship.

That would be my guess as well. The game is called Alien:Isolation, implying that Amanda should be the only one left.
