Ignoring objective and running into trouble
At the beginning of the game, before you have any weapons you can get yourself in a hopeless situation due to spawn bugs and technically being where you aren't supposed to be (even tho nothing is preventing you from getting there). Instead of going to the Lorenz Tech Spire I went to habitation and then to engineering. I walked all the way down to the control room for the core (where you look down and see the super synths in their suits). I then went back up to the tram area and saw 2 humans spawn out of nowhere. I ran, went back up again and saw guy and a lady both with shotguns. There was no way to sneak back on the tram due their positioning and I died.
So if you go way out the way and ignore objectives (early on at least) you could find yourself in a trap/hopeless situation.
Also went to Marhsalls bureau early and there was 4-5 guys outside of it threatening to shoot me

This is how things should be. It's nice to know the gsme is non-linear. I too took a train ride, but did not see the things you saw. I was killed by humans pretty quickly. The only thing is, you shouldn't see them spawning. The programmers haven't allowed for you going off the beaten track.

If I remember correctly, you can use flares (you get at least one as early as the pit you fall into at the beginning of mission 2; it should be at the bottom of the pit) to draw them out of position and then get back to the tram, so it's not like going to engineering during mission 3 puts you in an impossible situation.

There are no save points in those areas so you can't ruin your game or anything. Also I did this the other day just for funzies (go where I shouldn't before getting the access tuna) and at the Marshal's Bureau you can just run right back to the tram when you encounter the goons, and in the other area you can lure them by banging on the wall with the wrench or throwing a flare if you have one.

Going off the beaten track (aka exploring) is roughly 99.6% more fun than doing what the game wants you to do.

I went to the marshalls area ... looked around in the lobby upstairs first... then came back down to the smaller entrance area for them. THere was ONE person threatening and eventually shot me.

THe next reload I figured... I'll go back... and try and sneak around him or distract him to get past and see what's in there.

Met the Alien soon as I get upstairs.. which was odd because he got there pretty quick considering the tram.. (unless it was a second one).

So third trip... I figured to use the alien to kill the human.

So I Sneaked around , Alien was around.. but when I went into the Marshall's area there were THREE humans in a line waiting... the Alien popped up at the place I came in (the round part).. so I was trapped.. I tried to throw a flare.. but the Alien got me first.

Each time after that first trip... two humans came off of that tram (unarmed) and went to running/dodging hiding (from me?) in the original tram station.

It was funny feeling that each time I reloaded... the game had added MORE stuff to the location I was going to.

Last time I tried it... I ran into FOUR humans in the Marshall's office... the alien was around as well.

So I went to engineering.. I think someone got me there too tho. LOL

I always wondered if I were to break off from the objectives (at the point before you get the hacker tool) and take the trams to the other spires if the Alien would be around then. Turns out apparently it is!

If you go before you get the hacking tool I don't think the alien will show up. I've never tried to do it right after picking up the hacking tool though.

Going off the beaten track in this game always means being attacked by the Alien
