Killing Androids

Disclaimer: I'm a hardcore sneaky sneaky thinky thinky type I don't do combat unless it can be avoided.

Never the less I just want to gather the facts as I'm sure there will be a point where it's more advantageous to fight one. I've done some testing (I'm playing the second hardest difficulty first run think it's called Nightmare). I'm primarily concerned with efficiency here.

It seems the Jack only makes contact from behind or if they're heavy stunned from multiple rounds and even then it's only 1 free swing before they intercept it again. It took 5 headshots from a little test I ran or 4 headshots plus 2 free swings.

I do like how tough they are it really discourages combat but as I said just want to know for a potential as and when scenario.

I think nightmare is the hardest.

For efficiency I have never killed a Android with just the jack (altho it is possible there is a achievement for it) right now I hit them with the stun baton and then kill them (probably the best way other than hitting them from behind) but when I have no charges I use my shotgun or revolver. One thing I haven't tried is using a smoke bomb and killing them while they are in it. I don't know how to make the alien and androids fight it appears that they just ignore each other (however where I'm at the androids might attack it).

So most efficient is probably attacking from behind (although I have never done it successfully)

I have killed 2 Androids on Nightmare the first was with the stun baton I just walked up to it hit it with the stun baton and then hit it again and again with the jack - worked rather well, the second was with a revolver ...It was difficult and took 5 shots and as it staggered on the last shot I rushed forward and battered it to death. To outright kill one with shot would take 7 shots on Nightmare I believe and that would be all head shots!

Evasion is your best idea.
