it's a legit question, isn't it?
It's not. Just someone looking to bring politics and outrage culture into something not remotely relevant
that's literally it
I also see they accused another poster of being a racist in a different topic about the game costing too much money to play, even though nobody else mentioned anything that could be interpreted as such.
Like they once used Post Malone for promotion. I can't stand that tatted-up clown. But yeah, was just for one event I didn't care for, not a big deal.
WotC has always been a bad business in my opinion, but it's not in relation to politics.
More with how they had a negative influence on the D&D IP along with Atari. Or how they always release over-powered broken cards that caters to Combo and Control decks, while having no regards for how it makes playing Mid-Range non-competitive.
Anyways, it's the right of the guy to be bothered by some political messages a company may promote.
Not in his power to put politics out of the game. If a company wants to make a movie or a game with political messages in it, the consumer has a right to know about it, and make a decision based upon it.
I didn't see much "woke" stuff in this game though. Indeed, it's basically just a cards' game. The lore is very much a second-thought in MTG. Not important at all in relation to the core gameplay.
Indeed.
Little tip, responses like yours are exactly what they want, and why they keep doing it.
Personally, I've not noticed anything, at least nothing particularly overt. Then again I'm more interested in the mechanics of CCGs most of the time, and whether or not the art is at least "competent" or "interesting" rather than hunting for any subliminal messages. I haven't played too much recently, but it should be fine, and it's historically been a really fun game as long as no-one has too many land issues in a given game.
EDIT:
To be fair, as someone generally opposed to most "woke" ideas... the "racial alignment" stuff was always kinda BS to me. Doesn't make individuals or societies not evil/good though, but it shouldn't therefore follow that everyone of that race or born in that society is therefore evil/good. Drizzt being a "good Drow" was established even during the racial alignment thing for example, that didn't stop most of his family and the people in Menzoboranzan(sp?) being totally evil. Plus, the Atonement spell exists, or whatever the alignment changing spell is called these days.
But I figure if they have the same level of free will as regular humans, they should be whatever alignment fits their will and personality, even for Dragons and the like with their chromatic/metallic split.
That said, mindless beings and animals (that aren't Awakened) should always be neutral, (and I'd include Skeletons for example, as well as Golems and Insects and the like, but that might just be me).
