MTG ARENA is rigged. Don't waste your time.
Topic.
I played MTG Arena for years and this game is not only totally overpriced if you pay for the boosters ( same price as paper version but without actual value).
No, the game itself is completely rigged, some reddit users analysed over 1 million games and proved that the matchmaking AND the shuffler is completely rigged.
Arenanet never really denied it but some very sketchy tweets more or less proved it and "allegedly" are ranked matches not rigged but i highly doubt it after 10.000 rounds~ over some years.
You are warned !

You will realise it at some pointh if you draw a card 3 times in a row every 3-4 games (if you have a winning streak it gets even worse) because they try to give casual scrubs a positiv feeling in the game with a 50/50 W/L ratio ( casuals bring the most money Stonkz ).
Or the rigged matchmaking where you get with some decks always the same enemies with the same decks that by chance counter your deck perfectly, that will happened for me 10 games in a row on the worst days.
A small example : I played an blue/white control deck that started to shine at turn 5-6 so rather slow and there were two decks completely destroying it ..... mono red and mono blue aggro I GOT 12 ROUNDS IN A ROW MONO RED AGGRO AS ENEMY ! At this point must be said mono red is always the top 1 meta deck because you can play it blindfolded 60% winrate was normal for it but, I had a 2nd main deck because i was so sick of the meta, i have build myself a W/B Control anti meta deck that completely destroyed absolute every aggro deck but will loose against slow decks so when I was to annoyed of the aggro scrubsl I switched over to my W/B Control deck and pure coincidence a miracle happened and i got the next 10 rounds in a row a perfect counter deck that normally not even was in the meta like no colour artifacts....
I played the game still because even after all this rigged bs Arenanet does, MTG is still by faaaaaaaaaaaar the best TCG game you can just start and play, Hearthstone ist just gambling without money, Yu Gi Oh is only a huge clusterfck now and HEX is great but still not enough player, sadly because it has a great pve mode too.
But that is still not the reason I finally stopped playing the game.
Over the years the cards became more and more broken because nobody knowhs why....
The biggest issue now is that absolute everything is totally pwned by aggro decks the biggest garbage players use mono red btw.
If you prefer skillfull decks like control decks or trolldecks decks where you exile your enemies whole deck step by step, mill was funny too but at some point the rotation became so bad, that everything that was no aggro decks became completely destroyed.

I tell everyone to play MODO(mtgo) instead. I've played arena since alpha and for a while the rewards were decent for actively playing then it became a chore that forces you to buy packs to get a deck that ends up costing 2x as much or more than on mtgo. Just play mtgo, sure its very outdated UI, but its mostly functional(some bugged card interactions, missing cards) and has real life value tied to the cards. Just go play modo for the 2/7 mtg close to irl interaction. Would be nice if they added in game voip for lobbies but their code is probably spaghetti by now.

In this thread: Someone is angry about Mono-Red-Aggro in Historic Format because their control deck sucks. Not realizing that if there was no valid Aggro deck, everyone would play games with 50 turns, countering every spell the enemy plays. Idk if you would call that fun.

Also, game is not rigged. Game works as intended. Decks with many rares fight decks with many rares. Higher Rank gives you harder oponents.
This opinion is bad, and you should feel bad.

Are you sure you're Red Aggro encounters aren't a problem with the current Meta (at your ELO/rank/whatever) rather than with match-making algorythms? I haven't kept up with the current meta at all so I honestly don't know.

Also, wouldn't it be relatively easy (provided you have the cards) to build an anti-aggro deck if you know what everyone is playing? Or would the "rigged matchmaking" just stop feeding you aggro decks if you played one? Sounds like a solution to your problem either way.

The shuffler is provable not rigged.
Matchmaking in unranked is based on your deck, so if you only play one deck, you will see the same several archetypes over and over again. If you want more variety, play multiple decks.

Well MTGO has a monetarization too and looks really ugly. Couldn't get a feel for MTGO.
The joke is, if MTG Arena weren't rigged, it would be the perfect TCG game for me aside of the resent balance issues, stupid bans, to overtuned cards and hardly any variety in card effects overall.

MTGO is a uglier less person interactive version of tabletop, except it costs WAY less. I prefer to have a dated simple UI(granted its pretty god-awful especially how the private message is a complete separate instance window when V3 way better in every way) over the flashy spaz graphics and Predefined chat spam. It is difficult for new players to adjust having to pass each interaction on mtgo rather than the game auto doing it for you like on arena.

A real ife booster pack costs 19.95 USD (cheapest I could find from a reliable source).

20k gems cost 99.99 USD which is enough for 100 booster packs. 1 booster pack is 0.99 USD. You also get 0.13 rare wildcards, 0.03 mythic wildcards and further 0.6 golden pack rare/mythic.

Same. Right. For sure you extensively played MTGA...

At least your ex was an equal relationship even if she was boring and plain looking. New GF is just stealing from your wallet and expects you to pay for everything, and wants you to buy a pet while spamming Sorry! Sorry! Sorry!, but hey at least she is hot even if she doesn't put out.

Sorry what? What country are you from where their currency is worth 10000:1 USD?Venezuela? A pack for irl mtg is like $5 bucks on Amazon, and $5-7 depending on Walmart/local owned card shop plus local/federal taxes. Where the hell did you get 20 USD for a booster from? Clearly someone is a shill for Arena.

I agree with you 100%. You can spend $100 on gems on Arena and get any tier-1 deck right now. You will also get enough other cards that you will be able to get a second tier-1 deck before the next set comes out and perhaps even a third. At that point, you will be able to keep up with the meta without too much trouble.

The average tier-1 deck in standard right now costs between $300 and $500.

You used to go out with with "Shandalar"? Heh.

(But yea, a UI that's still so similar to that one from 1997 is not pretty... actually I think it kind of looks worse?)

Going to mtggoldfish.com and looking at current meta tabletop prices; there are 4 decks that cost $120 or below.

I just wonder if peoples who put money into the game are more ''lucky'' ? Best feature of the game ''concede''
