It's more because Natsume didn't program any of the old Harvest Moon games but was only used as a translator and distributor. The original series was released in the West as Story of Seasons after Natsume was fired as translator and distributor.
Natsume has the trademark rights to Harvest Moon in the west and has been using the success of the old games to sell their crappy versions. In effect, they killed this brand.
And despite that warning, you bet that the controller support is not gonna be great either. XInput support only, Xbox prompts only, no action-based input rebinding. A glorified Xbox debug build that they could probably export from Unity/Unreal with no tweaks required, and people would not notice a difference.
