Town of Salem 2 Goes Free to Play!

We are going to be having an extended downtime to make our transition to Free to Play. Stay tuned for updates, and patch notes to come with this update!

Patch R.1.0.30 - 9/15/2023

Town of Salem 2 is now Free To Play!
• All Players who purchased the game before Sept 15th at 10am will be rewarded The Super Deed to the Town pack.
• Free Players will use our key based system allowing them to store up to 5 keys, with 1 key given every 8 hours. A key is required to play a match.
• New players start with 5 keys.
• Added two new packs, the Deed to the Town and the Super Deed to the Town!
• Deed to the Town pack - Unlimited games, Access to the Cauldron and Shop, Sir Froglington pet, and 1300 Town Points.
• Super Deed to the Town pack - Unlimited games, Access to the Cauldron and Shop, Sir Froglington pet, 3 of every scroll, Deed to the Town corner decoration, and 5800 Town Points.

New Character - Sabrina
• Stalking in the night Sabrina can't help but reach out and swipe anything that catches her eye!

New Decorations
• New House Decoration - Dream Catcher.
• New House Decoration - Deed to the Town.

New Pet - Sir Froglington
• Even the faintest music gets this froggo dancing!

Improvements
• The required votes to put someone on Trial during the voting phase will now dynamically update if players disconnect or reconnect.
• Equipping scrolls in Personalize will no longer take you inside your house.
• Hovering over disabled Cauldron potions while viewing the potion rack will now display a tooltip describing why they are disabled.

Bug Fixes

• Fixed some spelling errors.
• Added the Transformed Horsemen role cards to the Game Guide.
• Fixed an issue with cinematics that caused them to show a outline of a silhouette.
• Fixed a few edge cases where the Cauldron potion rack could get into a bad visual state.

3 of every scroll

Whoah steady on brother, I would argue negativity will kill the game more than new players will, we were all idiots at the game once, the ones who enjoy it will stick around and learn how to play properly, and trolls gonna troll regardless, it's all part of the fun my friend!

New players aren't a problem as long as at least leaving the game is punishable, unlike in TOS1. Punishing toxic people and leavers will filter out the community.

We have quite a few anti-botting measures in place to help keep the biggest issues of being free to play under control as well.

How much does the Town deed cost compared to the super town deed? Does base game (unlimited plays) cost less now?

also a little sad that people who bought game early don't get more exclusive pets/skin/char, but thats just a side note

edit: also how does referral system work now, i amuse they have to buy the town deed in order to earn the referral?

Town deed is $5, super deed is $10.

Referrals works the same they did with the demo. Free users can be referred, but won't count until they purchase a deed.

Free to play isn't even the correct term i'd say its more appropriate to call it "limited play". Since free users are very limited in what they can do/playtime.

Honestly the fact that they gave paying users free premium, a buncha town points and some cool exclusives was a gesture of goodwill I think was fair and appropriate. Your money was not wasted. You Still bought Town of Salem 2 and still got the full game, unlike free players who are limited in their experience.

Why did you guys not implement a barrier to ranked practice BEFORE releasing it F2P?
Why is there not a proper tutorial of basic roles before F2P?

Game is literally not fun anymore. I got so pissed off at this kid in a ranked prac. game today that I'll probs get reported for it, but he literally doesn't know how roles work and he's constantly joining ranked prac.

It's infuriating so I uninstalled.

With the shift to F2P, will the deed and super deed packs be added/accessible from the steam page anytime down the line? I was planning to sell off a thing or two from old games to cobble together steam wallet funds to buy the game itself before the switch was made. Unlucky timing for me hahaha

Developers, i do not get the problem the community is pointing out..
i heard of the game from the flamingo sponsorship, very smart move on your part i must add, but Your free to play model is great, since i got this game on a discount and bought the starter pirate pack ( a small while back) because i could enjoy this indie game and what it brang to the table, keep in mind i never played TOS 1 but, i Hope you are doing well in the foreseeing circumstances, personally i think you did a great deed for yourself and others/ the community :) Thank You Guys :D
