Introduction

first of all thank you for actually being interested in Hotel Story and that you clicked on this article.
My name is Fynn and i am an 28 years old game developer living in a small village in germany.
I work on a full time job and in my free time i am developing Hotel Story.

I love playing video games and the idea of making one since i was a child. When i was 10 years old i used a lot of rpg maker but i rather used it like "lego" then actually programming a game. Game development was always something i never thought i could accomplish alone but when i heard about eric baron aka concernedApe, who was actually developing a game by himself, i was blown away. He really inspired me to start my very own programming journey!

I am really thankful to Eric Baron for showing me such a beatiful hobby. It is so much fun! Every day i can´t wait for the evening to keep on working on pixel art or to program new features for Hotel Story.


The Goal with Hotel Story

With Hotel Story i want to create a game where you as the player start a new life in a cozy small city with the big quest to renovate the once active hotel of your father. There will be a big focus on designing your hotel with good looking furniture and taking care about your hotel guest´s by meeting their room expectation´s, keeping the hotel nice and tidy, satisfying guest needs by adding hotel facilities like a restaurant or a hotel garden and much more.

Meanwhile, on your break you will be able to explore the surrounding land and the city which is set in an modern environment (suburb) with a day and night cycle in which events will happen depending on the current day time. Zelda Majoras Mask´s Day/Night cycle would be a good comparison for what i want to archive (but less stressfull though... Just the Sidequest Feature :D).

Overall Hotel Story will be a very relaxed gaming experience similar to animal crossing, harvest moon or stardew valley but this time you have your very own hotel.


Why a Hotel?

When i was younger i really liked playing Sims 2 on my Nintendo DS which to be honest was a very wierd version from the Sims games on the PC. In this Game you stranded with your car in a strange small town and in order to repair your car you had to earn money by managing a hotel. I think it was really fun to build up the hotel while you were also exploring the open world which was filled with lots of secrets.
