Complete vs. Simplified - How will this impact co-op?

I play with a couple of friends, to my dismay I found they selected Complete for their 2nd serason while I picked Simplified. We only play to do it together but now it seems they have the entire main story to do while I'm fast-tracked. It's really got me down, as far as I'm aware there's no server transfers OR changing task modes so am I doomed to just wait around while they do the entire storyline again? Is there any solution?

Why did you pick complete? It says clearly what the difference is.

More over, really, quests can be completed solo and usually don't take much time to complete once you know what you're doing and where you're going. If you're playing tandem, your friend can easily be doing gathering or more routine things while you knock out quest objectives.

I imagine because he had completed so it seemed the logical choice but wasn't aware his friends chose the other. Its ridiculous for an MMO to require this much prior coordination just to play with friends
