Sometimes when i kill an npc, the same takes time to die, it freezes and makes me stuck in my state (if im aiming), so in other words, if i shoot and kill a npc while aiming, exit the aim mode and walk normally while the npc is still processing its death, my walking speed will be the same as the aim state, even exiting it, the speed fixes itself after the npc finally dies.
This also happens while collecting resources, it sometimes take a while for things to break, open or collect.
Its kinda funny seeing this delay
*kills NPC*
NPC: uhmmm wait, what am i supposed to do now? let me think... OH YEAH i need to... *dies*
To be fair (no excuses) this game has a crap ton of mechanics that the server / world has to keep track of by the minute. Is it a surprise there is gonna be lag? System tracker doesn't even take a break when you offline, lol.
-Food decay timers, by the minute. Meaning if you have a food about to decay in 1 hour. If you log off and comeback on at the 55 minute mark, that same food is gonna show 5 minutes left for spoilage, heh.
-Auto Turrets
-Each potted plant has their own needs (sun requirement, hydration, fertilizer). Some players have 70++ in their base and the game/server is tracking each individual one, lol
-Deviants doing mining for you while you offline.
etc
etc
etc
I have a strong feeling the devs are being rushed to release things. The last update felt very rushed and unlike the others, it came with a lot of obvious bugs. I dont mind small bugs or lag, i expect that from any game. But this last patch really did a number, and i really feel like its because deadlines need to be met and such
So, the more players active in a world, more the lag, now i kinda understand why they close the servers after some time...
I hope they can figure out a way, i cant think of a better solution other than yours or a player limit of some sorts
These are settings I would check and double check before blaming the server.
100mbps net speed, traced and its consistent.
All drivers are up-to-date and my CPU is at 60-70%, GPU at 100%.
And I still have these delay problems within the game, and i dont think its on my side at all
I will add some extra for you:
Im not having delays on multiplayer of other games, as i often play them with friends.
My discord calls are working smooth.
No video loading issues and fast speed even on high qualities.
To my understanding all my driver and software updates are automatic. They rarely present an issue for me, but to be fair when they do it has taken me a while to figure it out
Im connected to the North America server, i live in british columbia canada
I havnt looked at my graphics settings at all, i put them to my preferred settings months ago when i first started and never touched them. Do they change themselves sometimes? Absolutely hate that crap..
Mkay so it's not drivers or location stuffles, good. As for the other thing...
That might have been a mistake. You should REALLY check your in game graphical options and make sure they are what your originally set them to. From time to time games will get patched and new graphical options will be added to a game. If the game detects your system "can" support it these new settings will be turned on by default. In some instances, despite your system being able to use these settings, using them is NOT ideal. In one of the recent updates Once Human made changes to it's video settings. I would double check them.
Primarily the only thing you really care about in your GPU management software is if the game is using your GPU and not integrated graphics. You would think most modern computers are "smart" enough to not do this but trust me it happens more than you think. Driver updates might also sometimes change graphical preferences. One user mentioned his AMD card had swapped back into "Eco" mode after a driver update even though his system usually would run in "optimal"
You don't need to micro manage every last bit of your machine but the occasional check in is ALWAYS a good idea when something isn't working right.
