Well, this is disappointing news. Has this been confirmed by the dev team?
Yes, seasons are scheduled to be 6 weeks in length and participating in a new season requires you to re-level your character from level 1. A few account-wide unlocks (like skins) persist between seasons.
Once Human is not following the typical MMO structure where the base game is continually expanded with new content updates that you can experience with the same character. It's more like Diablo 4's seasons - the existing game is altered with new goals and variations on gameplay, and you create a new character to try and unlock the rewards available during that season. Basically a revolving FOMO door.
If you folks don't like this particular setup I suggest making your feelings known on those in-game surveys they keep sending out. Otherwise this is what we're getting.
