If you weren't aware, Once Human is using a seasonal model where the developers plan to do reset every 6 weeks, which will require you to restart each time with a new character to participate in each new season. That's why their entire setup is drop-dead easy and designed to push you forward through the existing content as quickly as possible.
I'm not saying that's what I want, only that this is what they're giving us. Personally I would much rather have a slower progression system. I could easily spend a month just running around and exploring/clearing all Dayton Wetlands had to offer (the first starting region) and creating a base.. or at least I could in CBT2 when progression was more reigned in and challenging than it is now. Now you can progress out of that region within hours.
You're describing regular content updates that happen with most MMOs (FFXIV, BDO, etc.), where the amount of content in the game grows over time and you can experience it all with one character. Once Human isn't like that, it's using the typical season structure like Diablo. And to participate in a new season you have to start a new character from level 1 and progress from the start of the memetic trees again.
Some items are essentially account-wide unlocks and persist between seasons: in-game tokens, weapon blueprints and gear blueprints, mods, skins, building blueprints, titles, and your friends list will carry over (although this list is subject to change).
At the end of each season your materials, components, medicines, ammo, and gear acquired during that season will be transferred to the "Eternaland Depot" on "Eternaland", and you can choose to bring a very limited number of those assets with you on your next seasonal character to make leveling up again easier.
If you folks don't like this particular setup I suggest making your feelings known on those in-game surveys they keep sending out. Otherwise this is what we're getting.
