rust official server wipe so does this game.
if one human had unofficial server then they will not wipe.
my answer was completely related.
lets bring another game up. Diablo 4 reset every season and you have to start from fresh.
That's one of the things I hated about Diablo, I played two seasons, uninstalled the game and never played the franchise again.
So if the OH developers don't change their strategy, I won't be there. And the game will quickly lose its generalist community.
I wish good luck to those who decide to stay.

Well that's the thing. Using D4 as an example, its seasonal content is always paired with quality of life changes, balance updates, and fixes that are applied to both the seasonal and persistent realm. So even if you're not a fan of of participating in a season there's something there to draw your interest back in.
That's why it doesn't make sense to attribute all of the population boom at the start of each season to the actual seasonal gameplay. I would argue most people are not excited by the prospect of leveling up a new character solely for the purpose of fighting malignant mobs, vampires, or whatever the theme of the season is. Most of them are excited about changes to loot, balance, and fixes.
Is it any wonder the one season with absolutely no gimmick and only quality of life improvements, loot changes, etc., ended up being the most popular? It's like for the first time Blizzard realized they should give the people what they're actually interested in.
I'm sure they'll go right back to having everyone rolling new characters to fight not-zombies next season, though.
only reason I think 6 weeks is too short is because people play multiple games and casuals don't put many hours in, it most definitely will be a turn off for them. They are the ones to keep games alive. We will see.
