This feature is very unpopular with many
The server side needs wipes, because nobody plays forever anyway, and need to clean up all the crap there, also no idea what the days passed mechanic does so for that too.
No problem with seasonal mechanics in hack and slash games, you have your permanent mode and seasonal mode where you start fresh.
Eternalland isn't a never ending version of the map, its merely a private little spot of land on the server with nothing else around it, that you build a house which doesn't get removed.
When a season ends your stuff is sent there and you can use resources point to bring a very small amount of stuff with you between seasons
OK bye!
Your base blueprint is saved, all the special blueprints you unlock are saved, your weapons/tools/some resources can be transferred, many aspects of the game arent reset.
Just your levels, the bulk of your materials (they are very easy to get....come on), and quest progression is reset. There is a lot of overall progress that is left to keep.
a lie, all crafted weapons and gear are sent to etland, you can use resource points to bring a few things back but you do not get to keep it all between seasons
Nobody plays forever because nobody lives forever, but certainly players are capable of playing the same character in the same game for years if it is designed well. There are people who have played the same MMO for over a decade.
I think, for some (certainly for me) once a developer requires the player to create and level up a new character (again) to experience the next part of the game they have effectively killed any sense of attachment to that character (and along with it, any immersion in the game world).
Our characters now simply become tools we use to chase down the next set of FOMO unlockables introduced with each season. I am no longer enjoying a game or immersive experience, we are instead mice chasing down the cheese in the maze.
Being able to hoard some of my acquisitions from each maze-run doesn't really make it any better, it just makes the mouse feel more like a pack rat.
As others have said, Eternaland is just a place to store specific items you're allowed to keep between seasons. You can also build structures there with less restrictions and invite other players to visit. Think of it as your own private instanced island to be creative on.
It is not a server option where you can play through the actual game without dealing with the seasonal resets.
That will give you an private island where you can build what ever you want and it will stay!
Here is a good video about it.

The main issue with the game, is the lack of story missions and content. I really loved the game and wished there were more things to do.. But halfway through the season u will have max tier everything, too many resources, waiting for the next part of the season to start with nothing to do.
I think when the final tier of resources was unlocked, and more story quests available, there were like 3 story missions and i just did everything within a day again.
The wipe system is actually a really good idea because the fun part is gambling for Blueprints with the Wish machine, and each new season u keep that progress and get new chances at gambling again. Also u can keep ur base from each wipe on ur island.
But yeah.. The biggest issue with the game will be people quitting after a couple of weeks because there's nothing to do at end game once u finish all story missions.
Oh and there's no difficulty at all in the open world >.> Even the dungeons are extremely easy until the very end of the wipe when there's no reason to even play the game
No
been around sense the start, have to agree with the content part BUT that's like in every mmo. Go to any of their forums and its always lack of content or nothing but daily's. If they do what I understood, is pretty neat if they pull it off with the seasonal stuff. Sinking like 30h+ a week into the game is gonna also burn it out over time
Ummmmmmm bruh, Diablo offers server wipes servers and non wipe server, their wipe servers are also very under populated.
Funny how you left that detail out
