I guess this hasn't been directly answered by anyone. Yes. The answer is yes. It goes into your deviants inventory and you just switch worlds.
Just saying. If I'm right, you needed a T4 or T5 Tool (Tungsten) to chop down the tree. But the demo just allowed you a T3 tool (Steel). So you couldn't even catch the "a lot bunny" deviant / cut down the tree.
It wasn't the players/house fault.
