Pretty sure there was a way to buy stellar planula with money which you can then convert to starchrom to roll the wish machine (blueprint, so not cosmetic). might have been remove though

"demolition expert" tab, check Sulfur alchemy column G, translation ingame is wrong saying acid into sulfur instead of what it does sulfur into acid.
basically your conversion amount is limited only by the amount of workbench you craft and your sulfur farming, which is faster than farming acid
You will not need that much acid unless:
1)you only farm exp
2)you want to use the sulfur/acid conversion to get a lot of exp
3) make acid and sell to make a lot of basic curency.
In the endgame as a solo, you dont farm that much but as a group at least 1 person needs it since you burn through resources.
It will mostly depend on how the economy is balanced at release
lol thanks i completely forgot what it was called
not certain, those specializations perk are random so it's pretty possible (and likely) to reach max level without ever seeing sulfur alchemy.
Just trade for the contaminated (not dirty) water. Someone is bound to set up a farm to pump it, and then you can trade a different resource they need. During beta, I traded two or three hundred mixed fuel and random ore that I accumulated for enough contaminated water to convert to enough acid to last me for the entirety of the last half of the beta just before demo and I didn't need a perk for it.
Edit: If I remember right, they were starving for mixed fuel because they had the perk that allowed them to convert stardust with mixed fuel
Your perk options are random. One of them allowed you to make acid by converting sulfur
