how to change servers

one of my friends couldnt join my server so i went to join his and i couldnt make a new character to join his server is there anything i can do

Nope, according to the devs it's basically "get ♥♥♥♥♥♥." If you and your friend don't create characters on the same server then that's it. No new characters in the same region and no way to delete your current one. Only option is to create a new character in another region and make sure it's on the same server.

Except you may not be able to because the server is full... so keep that in mind as well.

To me, this is a game killer. You can not base who can join a server off of accounts to that server instead of people on. I hope they change this, just on my end they have lost so many people over this. Fun fact, if you stop friends from playing together, they will simply play some other game. I love this game but if i can not play with my friends , well that is it for the lot of us. Simple fix just stop it, open server accounts to be unlimited and make a que to join instead they can never join. Biggest turn off in a game I've ever seen.

So they've since changed this since my comment (like a few hours after I posted it, embarrassingly) and you can make multiple characters in the same region now, but the server character limit still exists, so if your server is full then that's it. You can join new players by making sure you all join the same server before it fills up, and having an alt character isn't the worst thing in a game where the content is time-gated.
