If you don't do certain builds you can't do certain content.
Honestly the worst design style in gaming. In order to do certain things in this game you sometimes need to have certain items or gear or you simply cannot do it. A good example of this is Securement Silo - ALPHA. In order to complete the secret area you're required to have something that can activate the 5 pylons, this specific thing is electricity. If you've gone with the baton style game play where you have electricity on your melee or you have emp grenades...

Congrats you can do this content. If not, you are completely locked out. there is no other way to activate the pylons. The only option you have is to unlock the baton blueprint and make one for the next run.

So we aren't allowed to have any real build diversity. Since baton is the meta anyway most people have it and thus this issue has had 0 attention drawn to it which is annoying. If you're going to have a mechanic like this in game there needs to be a way to do it without having certain loadouts.

Even if the other way is slow and annoying, you should still be able to do the content. Having a certain loadout should just speed up the activation process not flat out be the only way to make it happen. This is F Tier design for video games, beware if you are going to play, you'll be funneled into a single build.

Its not even that you cant get to a secret, you cant finish the silo at all if you don't have the stun baton. I'm so glad I wasted my time clearing all of the rosetta guys just to get stuck at the end and after googling for a solution found out that I am SOL and have to leave the dungeon. As far as garbage mechanics this one is on top of the list so far.

The mission brief doesn't say anything about needing an electric weapon of any sort. Seriously, who thought that this was a good idea?

You can finish the dungeon without going there. The Heavy has the key for the door.....

Need explosives to blow open a wall in The Fridge Silo. Just keep something electric on you for next run.

I'll continue running with the sanity fish as my melee regardless.

My team went in the first time, realized we didn't have any gear for that, finished the rest of the silo, and then came back with a cheap shock baton the next time.

Given that we played the first time on normal, all we missed was a few mid loot rolls, not a big deal. And having one cheap stun baton in the backpack for doing that is hardly making you use any specific build - I use the katana normally, and swap to the baton when we get there and swap back after, costs less time than it took to write this post.

You went into the dungeon not knowing what to do and you came out of the dungeon knowing what to do for your second time.

The gear crate in the silo usually has a baton in it. That's where I got my first one.

did anyone say it was difficult dumbass? It's trash design... Yes, You can go back with a baton and get the job done. But the fact that it's a baton or emp grenades only is the stupidest part. You have to take SPECIFIC weapons you can't take a pistol with electricity in, that will not work.

This is pure and simple about inconsistent and poor design.

in addition you are unable to learn about this naturally if you do not have a baton as there is no dialog, text or information in game that leads you to draw a conclusion. Even the objective says "activate" the pylons, a simple context clue could have been "Power up" the pylon. This means you essentially have to work out the puzzle from nothing or do what most people will end up doing... googling it.

This is at it's core BAD design. Don't be a shill that encourages developers to make poor design choices.

That's besides the point though isn't it. Tbh this and some of the many other game design flaws that this game has is the reason it's player count will die off very fast.

I mean, you need bombs to blow up some doors to secret areas, molotovs for others.

Zelda games do this and no one complained.
