The supposed spyware
I wanted to try this game out but upon seeing some reviews i got the impression that this game installs spyware or something? I wanted to know if any of these suspicions are true and that I can try out the game free of worry. :VBCOOL:

Spyware is a common practice, but most don't notice it on their systems. Not only in this game, all the anti-cheat software is basically spyware for starters and that is only the tip of the iceberg

It's fine. People got scared of a developers programming error, these guys aren't used to developing for PC (mainly a mobile game company.)

The game creates two files in your startup programs. One is the ID of your system, and the other is an application launch counter. These should be built into the game process but for some reason run through OS processes. You can check these processes data transfer via Wireshark and such, they aren't uploading your credit card details to Xi Jinping, or doing anything at all, actually.

Data collection concerns is from the catch-all TOS/EULA that companies use for all their products, thus it mentions things like collecting emails and whatnot (like if you sign up to their website/forums for a game which you don't need to do to play Once Human.)

Do you use any social media?

Do you use a web browser?

Do you browse websites that ask you to accept essential cookies?

Do you use a windows operating system?

Do you own an iphone?

If you answered yes to any or most of these then all of them have user tracking and data collection.

The only difference in games is gamers get bent out of shape and have a forum to scream the loudest about it.

The game tracks how many times you've ran the game.
Worst spyware ever.
You give up more information every time you use Google Maps.
its not ♥♥♥♥ but some marketing garbo, but here's how to remove it and block them if you so desire (appsflyer)

if you still play the game, delete the 2 files i mention in the VVVV section, boom the files no longer are registered in run (you'll have to remove them still) but theyll never update again. (unless a game update replaces them of course, but so far it hasn't. Just had an update today and it didn't replace them. Either way, if it does, just delete them again lol)
Ezpz. problem solved

They gonna hack your computer. It's best you don't play the game so no one has to suffer being around someone as clever and insanely smart and wise as you.

Wisdom has been chasing you, but you are ever faster.

You're right not to be paranoid.
But :
01 - There's no anti-cheat software that launches before a game.
02 - The fact this file launche computer start up, can potentially collect a lot of data via Once Human file/folder, even if it's not running.
It's a very nice game, that's a shame.

There is no spyware or malware. This myth is total crap and can be verified by using a process explorer and virus scanner.
Stop spreading misinformation and fear mongering.

It's not about fear or scaremongering.
We all want to understand, don't we ?
To conclude, i agree with the link posted by ◬ ☥ 𝕄𝕚𝕝𝕜 ☥ ◬ , some solutions.

It is fear mongering as there is simply no spyware or malware and it is verifiable with a process explorer and a virus scanner.

People worrying about spyware in computer games reminds me of the people who worry about using credit cards on the Internet. Are there risks? Of course. Is it worth the risk? You have to decide that for yourself and take reasonable precautions.

Me, I don't really care the if the PRC looks at what's on my PC. I have ways of detecting if my resources are being used so I can shut that down. But scanning my PC for national security information? lol, go right ahead.
