Specialization Resets..
Can we talk about how terrible the current state of memetic specializations are? I was really hoping they would update it from the CBT, but no. It’s still complete RNG, and there doesn’t seem to be any way to farm the resets.

So your character gets 10 specializations, and you only get to reset 5 (gated over the course of 5 weeks btw, can’t have players resetting as they’re leveling.)

I’m currently at 6 specializations, and all of my options have been trash so far. So I’m just sitting here thinking “wow, my character is ♥♥♥♥ thanks to rng, better luck next season!”

Without being able to freely select what specs you want, or having a way to farm respec points, what incentive is there to keep playing when you can see early on that you were dealt a ♥♥♥♥ hand? Doesn’t seem like a healthy way for sustainable engagement.

I agree the system is pretty terrible you should be able to reset anytime with payment atleast

I get both sides of it, this current method creates a unique economy where people have to source special items through other people, thus also making it beneficial to work as hives where people have different skills.

Wait we don't get enough to buy them all at max level. That's lame as heck

I think you need to get given a full respec every 25 levels, as a new player I had no idea what was valuable once you hit tungsten so I have a lot of early game memes that are doing nothing for me now. Its a cool system but very punishing for new players with no way to easily respec when you have a better understanding of the game.

I like it.

It brings some MUCH NEEDED randomness into the mix. Pick from your options and attempt to utilize that specialization to your benefit.

Otherwise, you'd just follow the Meta (yes you would, stop lying) and pick the same things as everyone else, each season.

You got dealt a bad hand? Only 5 weeks left of this season. You'll live through it. Your character isn't screwed. You just didn't get the optimal perks you wanted.

I reset a lvl 3 specialisation, hoping the one to smelt precious metals was in there, and it wasn't. I got lucky though and can make pickaxes (should be called "multitool" or something) with the logging bonus AND the mining bonus.

Arguably none of the pick are bad... just not as good as people hyping their own specs...

I went the full hoarder route so I can make Silver Ingots and get extra yields on ore and skinning... that only resulted in the fact all my vendors are now capped when it comes to selling stuff to them and I'll have to wait till the next phase before I can sell to them again....so those skills are now, arguably, worthless as I can't do anything with the yields from them....

One strategy to help your odds if you're looking for a specific Specialisation is to not choose any at all until higher level. All listed available specialisations end up removed from the pool.

If you've already chosen, then there's no workarounds other than the reset option (unless they change things).

Unneeded, there are seasons. You're going to lose all specializations anyway every 6 weeks and you will learn over time which ones to pick and which ones to avoid. There are no wrong answers, all specializations benefit you. Some are just more braindead than others to use.

The game isn't punishing anyone, it's encouraging you to learn and use intelligence to predict and play the market. If you fail one go, you try again next time. People are doing the same thing with weapon mods and set bonuses, you can't farm ALL of them so you have to choose and predict what will be useful versus what will change or get nerfed. Heck, even the specs you CAN reset from killing bosses are wildly different from the ones that were in the beta. So apparently even those are random? Or just vary by season? Or maybe just updated from beta?

The point is -- seasons. I wouldn't get comfortable with ANY knowledge you have or anything you think is meta. Everything can and will change. It already has and will do so again. So pick the specializations that work for your playstyle, your build, and don't worry so much if someone else gets a lucky find that you wish you had. Instead, develop a relationship with your server community and TRADE. Heck, the best Hives are the ones using players of varying specializations in cooperation building enhanced Furnaces and other goodies for each other. You don't need Silver ingot specialization, you can ask your mate to do it for you since he has it.

hey buddy i dont have a solution but i do have a suggestion, maybe you can sell your silver bars for like 5500 in your vending machine or something, that way people will surely buy them because they can sell for slightly more, and you will still make money off them!
I dont even know if you can list them in there, but just a thought.
I also dont know if its even viable, in my server only 3 people (1 of them is me) have vending machines, and the other 2 machines have 1 item in each :|
I dont think ill be able to do this sadly, lol.

Specializations are seasonal perks. You will get others in the next one.

Soon people will catch on that it's not worth spending 5k to sell for 6k. In a game like WoW, it would be because the vendors have no limits. Problem is, these vendors do have limits.

Each player can only generate 250,000 energy links per week from vendors. This is a fixed amount that cannot be increased. So if you are spending money to make money, you sold to the vendor for 6000 but only made 1000. That means your weekly profits will be 1/6th of 250,000 -- or 41666. Making less than 50k per week is not worth it unless it's the absolute best you can do. Meanwhile, you as a silver seller are earning beyond 250,000 per week since you are taking the limited earnings of other players to feed yourself.
