How long does it actually take to play through the content of the current season?

I'm trying to work out if the 6 week time limit is actually at all feasible for non-poopsocking people who have jobs.

Started on Day 2 (Thursday), so I was a little late to the party. However, despite that, by Friday, I was already around level 35-36. Then, on Sunday, when phase 2 of the map dropped, I played for about 10hrs and got to 50. That's when I hit the 50th hour in-game.

Some things to mention though: I didn't only focus on leveling. I spent quite a lot of time on base building and exploration to find a place that I liked (that alone probably took me 10hrs in total). As for the leveling itself, about 50-60% of it mainly came from exploration and running around the map doing whatever activities was available to me.

So based, on my personal experience, if it only took me 50hrs (with 10 of those hours spent on building) to get to max level, with a 6-week cycle. I think that it is definitly possible for anyone with time constraints to get there.

I think that the issue is that a lot of people compare the game with Rust when both of those games are really different. Once Human's progression is pretty fast and easy, and around level 20-30 (which you can get fairly quickly), you can unlock electric automation which makes anything that is crafting related extremely easy. Rust on the other hand (Never played it myself but watched a lot of videos of other people playing it), the grind can often be pretty severe and require you to be logged in most of time to be either competitive or progress quickly.

Conclusion: You'll be fine. If you're not convinced though, you can always give the game a try, and drop it if it's not for you. It's literally free.

So, other than levelling up, what are you actually trying to achieve in this? I'm unclear on this. They say each season has a story. So there are main missions?

I appreciate you haven't actually looked into this yourself at all, and have just been listening to know-nothing Internet Randoms who have, in turn, been listening to other know-nothing Internet Randoms. In short, your character isn't "wiped". Here is the ACTUAL info from the Devs in the game's News section on Steam...

We are aware that many players are concerned that their in-game progress will be reset in 6 weeks, but we are here to reassure you that this will NOT happen! We value the time and effort you put into this game, so the items and gear you have obtained from the seasonal scenario will be retained in various ways.

(1) The following in-game content will be retained no matter how the seasons and servers change:

a. Important Currency: Starchroms, Crystgins, Mitsuko's Marks, Stellar Planula, and Sproutlets
b. Gear Blueprints (and their stars), Blueprint Fragments, Weapon Accessories, and Mods.
c. Furniture Formulas (except those gained through your Memetics)
d. Cosmetics, Expressions and Poses, Namecards, and more.
e. House Blueprints. After a House Blueprint is saved, you can reconstruct the building at any time (if advanced materials are not available, basic materials will be used in building instead).
f. Main story and side story task progress (for the tasks you've already completed, you can accept more streamlined versions of them in the new season but still get all the rewards).
g. Your friend list will fully carry over. Furthermore, you can check which players joined your Warband in the previous seasons and add them to your friend list.


(2) The following content and resources will only be partially carried over when you decide to enter a new season and start a new journey:

In each new season, your character begins at Level 1, and all exploration progress on the World Map is reset. This ensures a level playing field for all players in the new season.

Additionally, the new scenario will present a different map for exploration and rewards. Each seasonal server will also feature fresh challenges, tasks and rewards.

They did in fact say all of this but a lot of us have already had our characters wiped for no reason. Coincidentally, no discord mods have had their stuff wiped. They have a habit of saying one thing and doing the opposite.

you need about 100 hours as a new players to finish most of the content but there are many more things to do on pvp servers

I started pretty late and still managed to get the first part of the season done before the second one started, it's not that bad, but could be better i guess.

the time gating is the seasonal story and parts of the map if i recall, as well as higher tier mimetic (the skill tree)... which kinda isn't so bad, gotta say it doesn't have much FOMO inducing stuff as i expected it would, even the battlepass was easy to max out.

For people that have a day to day job, you'll feel rushed...there's millions of activities, some of the Seasonal goals are pain to complete, later on certain dungeons become stupidly hard for no reason. Overall I see no value in 6 week wipe

The only important phases are phases 4 and 5 tbh (week 4 and 5). Weeks 1 and 2 is just doing story progression, week 3 is literally a downtime there's nothing that important to do. Week 4 is when pro modes are available where you actually want to spend your controllers.
