Today I rather had the feeling other way round. There is nothing in first descendant, which forced me to play daily, as there is not competition or pvp. But I got crushed in a truck-mission by level 44+ people who seemed to have spend much more time into once human.
Grindy F2P games with battle passes are never a good idea for casual play...
That said if you really aren't affected by FOMO and can control yourself around IAPs either could be fine.
I personally like Once Human more because of the survival type stuff. If I didn't want do all that gathering, crafting, base building, farming... I'd lean more toward First Descendant.
One other thing to think about is that Once Human's seasonal "wipes" are still kind of an unknown, I mean you can read about it in great detail but, I think, until we actually go through one (60 days from now) we aren't really gonna know what it actually feels like.
