Is it possible to play as solo?

With possible I mean to actually be able to do the good stuff and not be farming for other teams that will come and raid me in 5 seconds like it happens in Rust

You have to consent to PvP, so you won't get raided either way. You can play solo, but you will progress way slower than in a group.

I'm playing PvE as a solo player. Doing all the quests, building, farming. You need to join up to take down boss instances. but that's a simple process of jumping in with a few players and shooting the boss

you can do almost anything solo or with matchmaking, you can sell exotic itms to npc traders later when your skilltree gets 3 or 4

Can confirm, CB 2, 3, the demo, and now live mostly solo! I join up with friends for fun here and there. But it's mostly just me going slow and exploring the towns, collecting loots, and unlocking things.

the game has 6k player caps on each server with each server having 10 shards you can move between
you can only have ya house on 1 shard tho
pvp is optional with a flag system and certian events poping it

you can be raided on pvp servers but only when purifying the purple goo cant remember it's name.
you will mostly be alone but player housing will be everywhere

Never thought about this. Just expected it to be like Rust. Just to make sure: I cant get raided on PVP-Servers if i dont want to be raided ?

Well this IS single player game...i mean its "kind a" MMO, but its not. You will stumble across other players rarely even if 2.000.000 players are online....how? Well there's a 5 gazillion servers with 1000 players on each cap!

There's no one ganking you on PvP servers either, so you're pretty much left alone all the time.

Quests and bosses are doable solo, mostly it's very easy just some are a bit more challenging. Woof. Woof. Looking at you, shadow hound.

So just go solo and find people to play with later

On PVE I played the whole game solo without any help and mow through everything alone. yes it can be done.

I feel like people aren't understanding the posed question.

Is it possible to play this game without other players there at all? As in, playing on a private, solo server, all by myself, without other people, like in literally every other survival game out there? As in, something like a private server? where I won't see people or the houses of people whom I didn't invite? This might genuinely be a deal breaker for me if there's no kind of proper solo mode.

No. Not really. You need groups to complete later game activities. If your hours don't line up with the servers busy hours you are not getting to progress.
