If the servers got hacked they could get direct access to your PC. They need to fix this immediately. Steam input is enabled by default when configuring the steam API.
This is yet another game that didn't configure it correctly. Getting pretty ridiculous at this point.
Also I'd assume that someone hacking their servers and actually wanting to harm users would be smart enough to realize that most probably don't run it with admin and use other exploits (or general methods) to achieve the same goal instead.
That aside: Yeah, whatever causes this needs to be fixed (either on the anti-cheat end the game uses which probably causes the issue, but then I also don't understand why admin would fix it... so, how did that happen? or by valve), same as adding the 2 registry entries to autorun for some reason (How did that even happen?) or having the bug that the game gets your GPU from 35° to a 85° hardlock if you go anywhere above 50 FPS (Again, how did that even happen?).
It's a very easy fix though. Would take someone with absolutely zero dev experience 5 minutes or less to google and fix. It's literally a checkbox.
Doesn't instill a lot of confidence.
I promise you you're not important enough to warrant hackers attention.
Yeah man, hackers still credit/debit card info (and whatever else they can get their hands on) only from important people.
