you cannot place stairs outside of foundation wich i think you are trying to do.
Main thing with roofing, is to make sure it has proper connection to foundations, overhangs on higher floors break the connection to foundations and prevent certain placements.
Its not hard at all.
Yeah, this. Good grief.
Can't rotate floors to get the boards lined up the way you want, at least not consistently. You can't build a wall down off of a ceiling it has to be on top of something. You can't build stairs from foundation to ground it has to be a ceiling if you want to build down. You cant place a wooden pillar under another only on top.
Those are the problems I found in my first hour of serious building. Most of the big names have done these poorly as well. I always try to build a nice two story American style country house with a front porch and I don't think game programmers have ever seen a front porch. Either that or they are not required to build multiple house styles without use of dev tools when building these systems out. It took me all of five minutes to realize it was garbage like all the rest.
Well said. Not being able to snap stairs down from foundations is a rookie mistake made my rookie developers who know nothing of building.
Except you can snap stairs down from foundations. So..... what was that you were saying again?
Or, in my case, having one's territory nearby/adjacent to a monolith, and on cliffs. Still, be prepared to make repairs/do replacements.
Then log in the next day and whatever you put under your stairs is on your damn roof..
You think.. Ok. Wth is this doing here?! *Picks it up and puts it back under the stairs*
Comes back maybe a little while later.
It's back on the gods be damned ROOF.
At one point i thought my little deviants were doing it and withdrew them from the containments. It wasn't them... :)
It's magic. Bad magic. It may look and act like you can put something under those stairs. You really can. But whatever you put there, don't expect it to stay there for long!
