Fix the damn stair placement
I just logged out for the night because these ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stairs will not place down no matter what I do. I mean how hard can it be to make stairs lock into the foundation my cursor is on???

what are you talking about? placing stairs and locking it easy you clearly are catching after strays becuse you dont know how to build or to play m8, sure the system can be wonky but placing stairs are easy as hell if you played other games where you can build a base.

you cannot place stairs outside of foundation wich i think you are trying to do.

Stairs? Try roofs lol.

Main thing with roofing, is to make sure it has proper connection to foundations, overhangs on higher floors break the connection to foundations and prevent certain placements.

Don't wave the cursor around in fresh air. Point it at the seam of the tile. If it wont scroll to the position you want, get closer and line it up better. Rinse repeat.

Its not hard at all.

Yeah like just about every other survival game out there the building system is mostly ♥♥♥♥.

Can't rotate floors to get the boards lined up the way you want, at least not consistently. You can't build a wall down off of a ceiling it has to be on top of something. You can't build stairs from foundation to ground it has to be a ceiling if you want to build down. You cant place a wooden pillar under another only on top.

Those are the problems I found in my first hour of serious building. Most of the big names have done these poorly as well. I always try to build a nice two story American style country house with a front porch and I don't think game programmers have ever seen a front porch. Either that or they are not required to build multiple house styles without use of dev tools when building these systems out. It took me all of five minutes to realize it was garbage like all the rest.

Well said. Not being able to snap stairs down from foundations is a rookie mistake made my rookie developers who know nothing of building.

yall faulting this person for not playing other games is insane. if you have trouble placing something look about 30% into the connecting object and scroll mouse wheel for placement, might take some time but it will work

Except you can snap stairs down from foundations. So..... what was that you were saying again?

The best solution I found to this is keep building them incorrectly untill you get correct positioning (and then remove the ones you spammed around the desired spot) - works most of the times!

don't make the mistake i made and build a nice, spacious home. you need to build your base like a military fort if you will be soloing purification. the smaller the footprint the better also (easier to defend). there are ways to cheese like building over deep water so enemies won't spawn behind your base.

Or, in my case, having one's territory nearby/adjacent to a monolith, and on cliffs. Still, be prepared to make repairs/do replacements.

Wait until you put something UNDER the stairs.
Then log in the next day and whatever you put under your stairs is on your damn roof..
You think.. Ok. Wth is this doing here?! *Picks it up and puts it back under the stairs*
Comes back maybe a little while later.
It's back on the gods be damned ROOF.

At one point i thought my little deviants were doing it and withdrew them from the containments. It wasn't them... :)

It's magic. Bad magic. It may look and act like you can put something under those stairs. You really can. But whatever you put there, don't expect it to stay there for long! :steamsad:

If straight stairs don't work try the "Z" stairs mine worked that way. Half of them are underground, but it looks cool actually
