Will ppl ever understand how the world works?
Even PVE is competing for locations.
Have you ever played Conan: Exiles? in the game pushes you to download all assets (items for sale will be accessible when purchased). Conan has an in-game store and Battle pass. All items that need to be purchased cannot be spawned in. Once Human needs dedicated server access for all, fast before they loss a good chunk of their player base. 90% of those who play don't want to wipe after 6 weeks. Dedicated servers will fix this. And don't worry, you can't cheat items that you haven't paid for yet :)
Or do you want prem stuff for free as a proper TRUE private server CANT take money from the people playing on it (as THIS is the grey area blizzard actualy fought against and lost : As long as its FREE, without any money or donation, its not illegal to have them(oh boy, them early 2000's when this war took place XD Wild times back then XD)? Understandable, but then again : Learn to grind? Also P server wont ever properly update and all. most of the time they are a few weeks or even months behind the OG in terms of contend.
So all in all, no real reason for them. If this game here would have an ♥♥♥ model in place then this would be the best PLUS for that, otherwise it would be a waste of effort and time.
The best would be a tiered subscription model:
The dedicated server would be the free tier (co-op limit expanded to 8 players) with an optional one-off licence purchase with a price depending on a max of how many players will be allowed on the server. No official micro-transaction content, but hosts could add their own to go towards maintenance and general upkeep.
At least, that's how I would implement private servers in a free-to-play online game.
Just let us buy a seasonal dedicated server for like €10$£...
and if another flavour comes out you can buy that one.
Once bought you can run the flavour that you like for as long as you like
This is highly UNLIKELY as if someone is hosting Private Servers, the company is not selling loot boxes, and thus, private servers for this specific game are illegal.
- 6 week resets.
- lack of a dedicated server.
I just like to build and PvE in peace, in my little corner, away from everyone else.
If I can't have that, well, there are many other games out there.
