Breaking down the costs
Howdy folks,

When I play online games -- especially "free" to play games -- I always like to explore, "how do they keep the lights on? How do they page their wages" So it leads me to try and break down some of the month subscription costs, and possibly the cosmetics.

So piecing the whole experience together without ANY artificial restrictions (taking into account player time invested in level-up, etc) or whaling on cosmetics, we essentially take advantage of the Battle Pass (BP) and the Meta Pass (MP). Amounts in USD, fwiw. Oh, and I like to round up.

These passes primarily include cosmetics, but you have a few premium gameplay items (eg. food, drinks, consumables, "super" campsite with fancy-pants disassembly -or something). So that's REALLY what you're paying for, effectively.

No, no, don't get me wrong, I DO like cosmetics, just as much as the next person; I'm focusing on tangible, non-subjective stuff that actually affects gameplay. For example, BioWare started charging to unlock task bars. FREAKING TASK BARS. Super scummy. I digress. Whereas Bethesda charged premium time for unlimited scrap; which I though was a fair trade for them to keep paying for servers.

Sorry, digressing.

Okay, so.
Battle Pass is either $9.99 ($10) or $23.99 ($24) for the premium version (extra cosmetics) (60 days)
Meta Pass is $4.99 ($5) per 30 days (possibly available as a 180 day subscription, not too clear about this, so ~$30?)

BP = $10 for 60 days = $5 per month (or $12 for extra)
MP = $5 per month
So the devs are asking for a total spend of ~$10 per month for fully-funded non-premium subscription (not including RMT shop cosmetics, etc) ($17 for fully funded Premium monthly sub). And we can also include to 300 Crystgin which amounts to about $5 anyways--practically money back if you're buying premium currency outright.

Other games charge differently, by comparison. Eve Online charges $19.99 ($20). Final Fantasy charges $14.99 ($15).

So, what do we think here? Is Once Human worth the subscription? Put into terms of entertainment per hour per dollar, are folks generally getting more than 10 - 17 hours per month?

--and I do apologize for the oversimplification about benefits. I do acknowledge that there's ALOT more than meets the eye in terms of premium features. My ignorance is simply a product of only having played the game for a few hours so far, and taken a few moments to review the top level of the RMT store. That's why I started this thread: to put the conversation out there and get more info. Please share your perspective!

i put 25 hours into just phase 1 so far clearing all the content and building my house and that was in 1 week, havent spent any money and technically you dont need to spend anything at all to be at the same lvl as those that do. even if you start late you can still get the BP moneys worth from it.

battlepass is a little cheaper compared to other games but then theres Meta pass that people prob end up getting as well so its the same price, dont need to buy the BP to get the most out of it as the free stuff has the most important stuff in it.

overall anyone that is gonna buy the battlepass probably has already and it equates to any other BP in games so its worth it if you normally do, most of the rewards from the bought BP is just cosmectic or usable items tho so its all upto the person
