Horror is only effective when there is an emotional response.
Yeah i guess I'm like that with heights. I absolutely can not stand near a ledge. Even with a railing I have to stand at arms length.
I stayed 19 floors up with my cousins once and they were leaning over the railing to take pictures and I about ♥♥♥♥ my pants.
♥♥♥♥ just thinking about it gives me vertigo.
Oddly I love it in video games because I know I can't get hurt but it still gives me vertigo.
Huge very loud flying yucky insecty objects that you cannot easily outrun and that can actually kill you. How are you not more scared of those instead?
all the people making fun of "its just a game" it doesn't apply to u sir because u don't have the phobia. so u won't and can't understand why just a spider is so scary to us.
same gose with ophidiophobia, Im not affraid of snakes, so I can never understand why someone with ophidiophobia is.
Should they also have a mode for that? if so doesn't that mean just turn off the whole game?
Wouldn't it be better for everyone if the player overcomes the phobia?
You get the product as it is. There's things I don't like in games too, but I'm ADULT enough to push through or just stay well clear of those things.
The world doesn't exist to cater for your phobias. Suck it up or move along.
1. rats
2. spiders
they are the default mobs, and spiders are so overused as bosses, it is already a cliche.
i am asking seriously: what games do you play that dont have them?
That's like people who have thalassophobia and play subnautica, then get surprised when it makes them scared.
Ironically. I have both phobias. I'm TERRIFIED of spiders. I'm TERRIFIED of bodies of water. The deeper and darker the water, the more my panic escalates. Just imagine how terrifying subnautica was.
But it's a game. It's not real. You could CHOOSE not to play such games KNOWING it's got scary creepy monsters. Most scary creepy games and movies 75%+ of the times involve bugs. You cannot expect movies and games to cater to your phobia. It's not logical, just like your/our phobias.
