Who can take stuff from your storage chests?

I'm sorry if this has been asked before, I googled it but couldn't find a definitive answer.

I'm currently playing solo, no team/hive/warband. I do have a couple of people on my friendslist.

I'm wondering, who can take stuff from my storage chests? I'm using only private storage chests but they have smaller space than the large storage chests.

If I'm building large storage chests, can people from my friendslist take stuff from it? Can people in team/hive/warband take stuff from it?

Also, what is the difference between a hive and a warband...? It seems a warband is just a larger hive?

I am still wondering the same about chests.

If I am correctly a hive is a small clan/group that can upgrade into a warband later on.
