The Irrigation system is completely broken.

All three pipes are pumping upto the pump. 1 from a barrel full of pure water. 2 from Irrigation. If I move the irrigation to the ground floor, they pump downwards if the irrigation is connected to the tanks, so clearly gravity has something to do with it. However, the pump should have a pump out to irrigation, not accept incoming water going uphill. The water is going nowhere.. but it equally isn't flowing into the irrigation. Tried making new ones moving old ones, it simply will not work for the roof farm, but for the ground farm everything works fine. Totally fubar system.

I think I might know your issue. The small pump has to be below, if just ever so slightly, its water source. Then the outgoing lines from the pump can go above it.

So I have a rooftop far as well. My water pump is at ground level and slightly higher than my filter which is also on ground level. Being slightly higher the water flows pump --> filter.

From the filter I have a line running to a small pump set on the wall next to it. This pump has to situated just slightly below the top of the filter so the water flows filter --> small pump.

Now the outgoing line from the small pump goes up 2 stories to a water storage tank so the elevation different between the small pump and storage is not a problem as water flows small pump --> storage.

And from storage to sprinklers.

So try placing your small pump slightly below its water source and then run the lines up and see if that works.

The Irrigation System is lackluster, and has no Input/Output system like Rust.

Sadly despite the pump having two sides, it doesn't work that way. So here is the rule of thumb. Small Pumps Bring WATER TO ITS LEVEL.

- Anything Below Pump Level is pulled to its level.
- Anything Above the Pump Level is pushed to it.

Lower the Pump, use it for bringing water to a higher level, but let gravity do the rest of the work with a tank to lower it back down.

Yeh from what I can find, if I put the pure water storage on the same level as the top farm, I can pump the pure water from the filters to the storage. Then connect the irrigation via to the storage and it works fine. I think basically pumps do not work with irrigation, only to pump up to storages.

I guess my problem is that I was applying common sense to a system.. that has none.
