Only if put into crates. Otherwise fert isn't seen in the fert bin. Dry food isn't garbage at all, it lasts indefinitely. Purple foods are better but require dev crops to make.
Endgame should be about quality of life changes. Automation etc.
There is no problem to kill a couple of deer or collect some corn for food while u running for a quest. What problems are you talking about?
