You can always just hide in your base at night like a scaredy cat.
I felt the same way. Definitely NOT for brand new players... but I saw the other servers called "novice" and went for "normal". Lunar killed me so many times but then you learn to avoid it and or get better gear and at fighting.
Once that happens, lunar is an awesome way to level, get weapon calibrations, and find great materials for crafting armor. Don't give up, it sucks while you're its b-... but it's great once you make it yours. I've literally gone from avoiding it and staying home, to having a lunar run I do.
Oooh, if you didn't know, 3 piece Treacherous (buy the blueprint ("G" or Y button) NOT "make a wish" from Wish Machine), will greatly reduce the max health drop during the lunar cycle. 4 piece will even give you a shield when your health drops below a certain point. There's also a craddle perk that gives you a shield whenever you use your deviant.
Use a festering gel deviant to help with your health too.
You got this meta!
Take a note guys: for first you supposed to buy all 6 wish machine "banners" every month - every 2 weeks 3 new banners appear 1 armor set and 2 weapon sets.
Buy absolutly everything 100%, its not important that you dont like it. You need a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ fragments, esp gold one later to upgrade stars on weapon/armor - you can only buy each weapon ONCE from "not wish" Wish machine
Then even in this case - 3 pices of treacherous set cost 3x3000=9000
Whole banner in wish machine cost 10000
Literally only a person that is math unfriendly would suggest getting parts in a machine
Magic gunslinger (
Gold: Treacherous Tides Set,(fragments) Treacherous Tides helmet, pants, shoes Gold:Charmed mag Top(unique)
Purple: Precise shot mask (unique) )
In short its: something like 4 pieces from treacherous, but you can only choose to fuse 1 of those, the rest are preselected (12k chrome in total) then unique armor pieces that usually cost 2k when purple and 8k chrome for gold -so Charmed mag top cost 8k chrome just alone in machine without banner
Buying from the machine is great if you have chrom to spare and doesn't want to wait for the banner, but banner is always better.
Nah, Lunacy is easy peasy. It's just that casuals aren't strong enough to deal with it and/or they don't take advantage of the game throwing the new armor set at you in the Lunar Crates. Using that makes the beginning easier until you can craft your best set of equipment.
Plus, there's a ton of new recipes to get that allow you to craft items to help you survive the nights.
There's a learning curve, for sure. And it's definitely going to be hard if you're a new player/casual.
For vets like myself, it's just a Tuesday.
Bu yes, technically very few things are absolutely necessary. It comes down to playing style and what one wants to deal with or not. I like using the armor myself rather than making the ale, but I can see the benefits of just making the ale... mind you, once you got the swing of things, it is likely better to use <lunar> mods and stay low health to get as many whispers as possible, but like I said, there's nothing necessary.
